I think I would be leery about having a magnet in such proximity to my iPhone.
Why would you worry about a magnet? iPhones don't have any magnetic media!
He may have been referring to the iPhone's metal back and surrounding frame, which make up a good 60% of the body.
But I don't see that as an issue, myself.
