CNet France reports that a new version of the firmware, version 1.1.3 is due for release at the end of this week. They claim that the update will bring a voice-recording app, as well as the use of disk mode so you can use your iPhone as a portable storage drive. Electronista notes that it's been about a month since the last update, and the last update happened at the end of the week. I hope that a considerable update is in the works; I'm still waiting for the Leopard-obvious features like notes syncing. Still, this is just a rumor; nothing real to get excited about.

One of the reasons I originally bought an HP Jornada was voice notes, but I ended up not using it. I bought a very well known voice memo/recording app form 680 but it basically made the phone unusable. While nice in theory, neither that nor disk mode appeal to me (8gb SDHC are cheap enough now that I can carry one and not waste precious media space on iPhone for file transport).

The only thing I'm really interested in right now is the new Google Maps cell triangulation. Can't think of anything else.

What functionality are others interested in for the next update?

    To-Do List application.

Using 43Folders takes to much time.

the to do list I maintain in mail.app syncs via IMAP with MobileMail, so I'm fine for that.
