Thats pretty stupid. Since webkit is supposedly standards compliant, where's the competitive advantage?

Richer clients means a better experience.

That's a good point. Eventually I think people will fall into two groups. Apple lambs who want safe little Jobs approved gardens to play in, and Freetards who expert-level hack everything they can while doing their best to avoid the malware that may follow*.

(* I'm thinking iPhone homebrew will be a much bigger target for malware than PSP ever was).

What would be funny is if large companies start supporting jail-broken iPhones. All the good things like full Youtube access, proper IM clients, DUN, alternate video codecs etc will be there. It would be like the situation with the PSP, another notoriously closed system that suffers from a huge piracy problem due to the skill of a few geeks brought to the masses by easy to use tools.

If 1/3 of phones are unlocked the population may not be as docile as Jobs expects.
