Wa-huh? Hon Hai is Foxconn, so how can they be luring orders away from them? So the journalist doesn't even realize that Hon Hai and Foxconn are the same entity. That doesn't bode well for the veracity of this rumor

Neither does the fact the 'journalist' reckons the current version is 158 grams (Apple think it's 135).

Your link fingers busted from trying to get WinMob tic-tactile typing already?

If memory serves, some upcoming, unreleased, vaguely leaked HTC may have VGA, but not yet at 3.5" sometime in the possible future, but proper video drivers will be anyone's guess or user class action? :)

What I'd *love* is 202dpi (Nano res) at 3.5". Gimme 640x480! (actually, give me 720p, but I'll settle for VGA...)

Cue Surur in 3... 2...

Instead of cue-ing me, why don't you just link to my previous post about this already?

If Apple switches to a smaller screen I'll just stick with my current iPhone. Even if they made the horizontal keyboard a standard across all apps that typing wouldn't be fun. I just don't see the need to reduce the screen size. For that reason I'm calling BS on this rumor. Dyvim makes an excellent point as well, no fact checking and the fact that the author doesn't know the two companies are the same doesn't make this any more believable.

I think this rumor is crap. From the original Taiwanese article:

Industry watchers pointed out that the casing-material change has helped Hon Hai lure the orders away from Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. and Catcher Technology Co. Ltd. with its profession in manufacturing of precision plastic components for information-technology products. Foxconn and Catcher were contracted to supply aluminum casing to first-generation iPhone.

Wa-huh? Hon Hai is Foxconn, so how can they be luring orders away from them? So the journalist doesn't even realize that Hon Hai and Foxconn are the same entity. That doesn't bode well for the veracity of this rumor.

At best, this may be the size of a new, smaller, and cheaper iPhone nano. I would be ok with the smaller size and cheaper (crappier) plastic casing on a nano model as long as they keep a 3.5" (or bigger) screen with aluminum casing on the the main, top-of-the-line iPhone model.

IMHO, I think moving to a smaller screen is unfortunate. A big seller for me is the real estate. Take that away and my "old" iPhone is looking just fine.
