Exactly. Use a reed switch attached to the power and mounted on the door and frame, then solder the talk key so it is always pressed. That way, this could run for years all while being completely portable and without having to worry about battery changes. This project is way too complicated for what is trying to be achieved.

With 2.0 wi-fi was non existent and I was actually in the process of returning my phone-- after countless wipes and such. Now with 2.0.1 the wi-fi is there,albeit sketchy. I'm starting to feel like I'm back on my old Treo 650! Ouch!

With 2.0, I was never able to get a GPS lock at my home. Everywhere else, the Maps app would quickly lock in on my location. But I probably tried 20 times at home, different days, different times of day, no luck. My first few tries with 2.0.1 have been successful!

Not noticing much of a difference, actually -- which is a good thing, right?

BTW, when the opportunity comes up for non-text browsing (maybe that would be a good blog topic, a recommended Top 20 iPhone apps) on the iPhone (or iPod Touch), I'd like to recommend this one:

iEnvision (in the App Store) -- very cool; brings a refreshing VISUAL collection of content (comics, Manga, space or astronomy images, art work, more). Block out all the email, the reports, the Keynote or PowerPoint presentations, and soak in edge to edge images on those great screens (yeah, I use iEnvision for stress-relief, too). This is kind of a pointless observation, but I notice now that when I quickly swipe across the menu screens all the way off the edge of the phone, I can actually get the menu stuck half way between two screens now. Whereas before it would always go back to the first screen I was on if my hand went over the edge of the phone, now it will just hang between two screens until I swipe it one way or another. Odd.

To drag icons across multiple screens definitely worked before! But also with the update it doesn't always work, which means it's kinda tricky to do in my opinion

It worked yesterday! (After installation 2.0.1. then - because I couldn't get it running - reinstalling the original factory-settings and then two times installing the back-up settings.............)
