Thanks for publishing about this. There?s a mass of critical tech information on the web. You?ve bought a whole lot of that info right here on your website. I?m amazed ? I try and preserve a couple blogs pretty on-going, but it is a struggle at times. You?ve done a fantastic work with this one. How do you do it?

Apple iPhone = easy money for devs.

Restricted choice (or no choice at all) of the supposed owner of the phone.

Mono-culture is not something to be celebrated here. Especially with the likes of Apple who have can decide that your app "competes" with one of theirs and reject it. With the App Store, you can spend 6 months developing only to find out Apple rejected your app and all your efforts were a waste.

As an iPhone owner and a developer (though not a mobile developer, unless you count webapps), I look forward to Android. Freedom is more important than convenience, and Apple is proving this to us. The kind of things I want to develop native apps for aren't even possible with Apple's API.

Sure, making a ton of money is nice, and from a business perspective, the iPhone App Store is great (if you can manage not to "compete" with Apple). But for those of us who are interested in technology, the iPhone is probably the best thing at the moment, but we are hoping for something better that doesn't restrict us. I don't know if Android will be the answer, but I'm hoping it will be.
