While Apple showed us the way, it takes at least two companies and some serious competition to truly stimulate innovation. As a result, the next few years will see mobile advance far beyond what we could have imagined only 2 years ago.

I agree with tunnlrunner. I hope this forces Apple to get more updates out to us and give us what we should have had from the beginning of the iPhone.

I think this is an exciting, awesome time for smart phone owners. Android and BB Thunder are exactly what Apple needs to prevent complacency; something to light a fire under Uncle Steve so that we might finally get an iPhone that we REALLY want: stability, copy and paste, turn by turn GPS, MMS, voice dialing, flash support, camera flash, video camera, etc. Stop worrying about becoming the next PSP and start giving us these smart phone features, Apple or someone else will.

Don't forget the proprietary headphone port. If people that the recessed jack of the original iPhone was annoying, I can't wait to hear what they say about this. http://tinyurl.com/3ucczu

Video I've seen of Android seems to place it as a competitor to palm, and to a lesser extent windows mobile. It looks somewhere in between those two for ease of use, and with less lag and more performance than both.

But it serves ads to you? Ouch!

No iTunes. No iPod. No fun.
