To Apple Macbook:

Installer is old and very unreliable. I can't believe people still use it. Do not base your iPhone's reliability on Installer crashes alone. It crashes for everyone. Someone should have told you to stay away from Installer.

Cydia is the one to use. I have as well jailbroken my 3g and have dropped it quite few times but no problems, yet.

My iPhone was one of the most unreliable phones I have had.
This could be down to the fact I unlocked and jailbroke it.

It usually crashed due to downloading apps from installer though.

I'm getting the storm soon so should be able to compare.

@Chad,

Good to hear, but even though my company bought me one, i still have a nice case on it and treat it like a baby.
Just seems so nice compared to the (many) BB's I've had.
Not really in the same league.
I sent my upper-mgmt the article last Friday to show that the data looks good.
Everyone - esp in corporate IT thinks Apple costs too much - what many don't get is the stuff lasts longer too!

@Scott:

I have purchased all of my iPhones (1st and 2nd generations) and I have dropped them all on the floor (carpeted, hardwood, asphalt) and even though they might get dented or scratched, they have all still worked flawlessly. Grade A build quality in my opinion. Treo's and BlackBerry's seem to feel cheap and "plastic".

We have literally buckets filled with broken Blackberries.
Here is why (IMHO of course)

1) BBs have lots of physical buttons, pearls, scroll-wheels which break.
2) Most of the BBs are paid for by the user's company - they're less likely to take care of them.
3) iPhone just feels like it's so much nicer/higher quality, that people baby them more.

We only have a small test-sampling of enterprise folks testing the iPhones now, but I can say after over 8-years of supporting 1000's of BBs, I wonder how well the iPhone will hold up if the COMPANY buys them and they're tossed around like we've seen???

As a previous Treo user, I have to say this has far fewer crashes than the Treo 680 I had. It still has some, but works much better overall.

I would have to agree with this. I was a Treo user for three years and I am now on my 4th curve from work. iphone takes the cake once again.
