"Sorry but I still think people need to take better care of their iPhones."

That is nonsense if it is a design fault. Mine was replaced under warrentee

I have a black one and it does have cracks around the headphone jack. They are really, really hard to see with it being black and apple rejected replacing it stating that it was not seen by their tech.

so the man that sued apple was suing because the phone wasn't fast enough and because he had some cracks? That just sound stupid as hell to me... If you don't want you phone to have cracks on it don't drop it get a case just in case you have sweaty hands. I don't have an iPhone I got an iPod touch and I have no problems with no cracks.

I had my (black) iPhone stolen this week, and when I went to the store to get a new one, I considered getting the white one this time (seeing as how my entire decision was based on the fact that the black one would be less likely to get stolen!). I looked at the white one in the store and saw that there were dozens of tiny cracks surrounding the dock connector. Obviously this is an in-store model that gets handled hundreds of times a day, but still, it looked disgusting. Even if the black one were to crack, it would still be black. Not white with dirty brown cracks.

If it matters, I had my black one since release day and never noticed a crack.

I use an incase slider, and have only ever dropped my phone once with said case on my device. I am horrible anal about the care and up keep of my devices, weather it be my iphone or my laptop. Some may say its ADD of sorts, but I find it to be reassuring to know my devices look as good as the day I bought them, and work as well too.
