There is a new streaming video app in the iTunes store that is cool and would be perfect for what you guys have been chatting about. You can have as many cameras streaming as you want. Check it out http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/procamplus/id356131705?mt=8 i got it and love it to watch my horses while i am at work.

Since I don't have an AppleTV, I think it would be awesome to stream from iTunes to my iPhone 3G (via my wifi network). This way I can watch vodcasts and other videos on my TV using the Apple Composite AV cable, without having to transfer the media to my iPhone!

Sean, that's the whole point of an interim server - Orb, for example, will transcode and change the formatting to fix the device you're watching, and make it fit in available bandwidth. So it doesn't matter if you have a copy of a Blu-Ray movie - on your iPhone (etc) it'll play at 480x320, lower-quality mp3 sound, etc.

DVD43, handbreak, iPhone mode, set raise to 500 meg, use winamp remote server, login on HTML. Orb thru iTunes app store works well to stream over edge, 3g has no problems.

Ummm... streaming HD movies? Over the 3G network? I don't think so. Maybe over Wi-fi, but 90% of the time I'm in wi-fi range I'm either at home or at work. At home, I'll watch on a big screen, thanks. At work, can't watch movies anyway. As for standard def movies... seems like they'd still have to be pretty highly compressed.

I see this service as somewhat less than useful.

I haven't triend slingmedia player, bur I've used orb in the past to stream home videos onto my iphone in the past but it would be nice to have our "DRM" encoded media to be streamed

I am currently working on research with my university regarding better encoding algorithms for HD video and audio for distribution through iTunes onto the iPhone. Good stuff to come...

This would be nice. However it's one more reason for iTunes to get a new name. What about AppleMedia... or iMedia... or something else not restricted to music?
