ok so I bought an unlocked or jailbroken iphone on craigslist. LOVE IT! I use it with tmobile and works great. BUT i want to sync it with a computer. How do I know if i can without losing everything? How do I know if I can sync to a mac or pc(i have both) HELP??!!!!? what clues can I get from my phone. Also other guy has his ituneaccount on it. I lost his number at reset(yes I know write things down.)How can I set up for my itunes account…with syncing right???

hey i gotta a ipod touch 2g 2.2.1 version and i was wondering how u jailbreak it because i tryed jailbreakme.com and that stuff is disabled so then i tryed quickpwn but it asked for some firmware which i tryed to get from that felixbruns.de website but wen i got it and tryed to extract the files it kept on saying there were 2 files with the same name so i gave up on that… if some1 could plz help me that would be great because im really running out of options. P.S i have windows if that makes a difference…

im running a 3g 2.2.1 on 2.30.03 i must of read everything online to try to unlock it unsucessfully plus its said i have to drop my baseband but my phone is running on 6.2 it wont drop only from 5.8 can . are they going to make an unlock for this phone or did Apple get me as of many others????????Help a brother out turbo sim Nah!!

Hi there.. I tried the jailbreak with the steps given… my iPhone hangs at apple logo after reboot and keeps restarting… it restarts and hangs at apple logo and again restarts and hangs… not able to power it off. Could anyone help me in fixing this… Thanks rpalle

Hi There! Love your this website. If i may say it is the best in Iphone related issues. I am going to go tomorrow and get my first Iphone 3G from the store(UK-dont know if that matters), and …NOW for the question : what should i do when i get home? ( I WANT TO JAILBREAK..no unlock necessary) Connect it to itunes and let it do whatever it wants to activate the sim and everything and then disconect The Iphone, restart it..conect back again and start Quickpawn 2.2.5 and jailbreak? or should i connect it directly and start with quickpawn? without itunes ? Hope i made myself clear enough I will wait for an answer but hopefully todayyyyyy! ) because i need to know by tomorrow Cheers everyone!

iPhone 3G - Jailbreak 2.2.1

Notes： 1．Before beginning: You must have iTunes 8 installed and you must be on firmware 2.1, if you are not, be sure to update via iTunes. Also make sure to go into the task manager and disable ANYTHING Apple or iTunes related. 2. WindowsXP user must download the NET Framework version 2.0 （Click to download） 3. WindowsXP user should be sure" Control Panel " －> " Administrative Tools " －> "Ｔelnet ,messenger ,terminal services" (Be sure three services are turned on)

4.Download Firmware 2.2.1 (3G) （Click to download）

Step 1

Make a folder on your desktop & name it Pwnage.Download the Firmware 2.2.1 & Pwnage tool 2.2.5 & place them in Pwnage folder you just created on your desktop:Unzip/Unrar the QuickPwn2.2.5-2.zip file inside the Pwnage folder.

Step 2

Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone 3G to the computer via USB cable.

Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left side navigation bar. Now hold down shift while clicking the Restore button.

Navigate to the Pwnage folder you created on your desktop and select the 2.1 firmware ipsw file. Double click the ipsw file or select it and click the Open button to proceed.

Step 3

Once iTunes has finished upgrading your iPhone 3G to the 2.2.1 firmware you may launch QuickPwn 2.2.5 from the Pwnage folder you created on your desktop.

Step 4

Make sure you iPhone 3G is still connected to the computer via USB cable then click the blue arrow to proceed.

Step 5

Click the Browse button to locate your iPhone 3G firmware.

Step 6

QuickPwn will check to verify that the ipsw file is valid. After completetion of the verification, click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step 7

Selecting（Add Cydia） This step allows you select what you’d like installed on your iPhone. You have the ability to select Cydia, Installer, and replace boot logos. Once you have made your selections click the blue arrow to continue on. If you want a full jailbreaking experience, installing Cydia and Installer is highly recommended

Step 8

QuickPwn will now ask you to confirm your iPhone 3G is still connected via USB cable before it continues. Click the blue arrow button to proceed.

Step 9

QuickPwn will now automatically put your iPhone into recovery mode. Once its in recovery mode you will be prompted to: Hold the Home button for 5 seconds, Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds, then release the Power button and continuing holding the Home button until your iPhone is in DFU mode.

Step 10

Once QuickPwn detects your iPhone 3G in DFU mode it will begin the jailbreaking process.

Step 11

Once jailbreaking is complete QuickPwn will inform you that it was successfull.

I have a late 2008 Macbook, so I know I am unable to jailbreak my iPhone 3g on it. Even though my iPhone is synced with the Macbook, can I jailbreak it on a PC then still sync it with the Mac?

@Mariah Carey, no one will go to jail for Jailbreaking. It is not illegal. Apple said it should be illegal. Fact is, you paid for the device. You have every right to do what you want with it. Whether that is take it apart, throw it in the air and let it smash to the ground, or Jailbreak it. It is yours to do so freely.

i approve of the content - this site made us all aware Apple does not want you jail breaking its product as it violates copyrights. TiPB blogged this last week.

Apple has released updates in efforts to make this more difficult. As such, you are now all on notice that continuing to jailbreak puts you at risk of going to jail.

I updated my Macbook to 10.5.6 without knowing what problems it would cause. When I tryed to jailbreak my iPhone 3G I got until it starts to transfer the first file to the iPhone but it gets stuck there and iTunes pops up saying something like: "An iPod has been identified in DFU mode but cannot be recognized. Please reconnect it." (I noticed this was the message other people were getting with the DFU problem.) I could get the iPhone to work again by just quitting Quickpwn and turning the iPhone 3G back on again.

When I used the USB-hub the same thing happened (on numerous trys).

I've had no problem with a Belkin 7 port I picked up from Dell, or some no-name brand I picked up from Best Buy. (both powered hubs)

What problem did you have, and are you sure it was the hub?
