The reason why it "doesnt look like anything apple would put out" is because prototypes are generaly very crude version of what the phone will acctualy be. Why would they spend all the time in the world developing a beautiful GUI if you couldent even use it? Its a lot easier to program the OS in a simple dumbed down version like so to make sure its practical and would work before making it look pretty but perform like a POS

Rats, when I saw the OS version had a 3 in it I thought it was somehow a prototype of iPhone OS 3…no such luck.

Interesting but no thanks. It's of no real value IMO since it's not a pre-release of a new iPhone to come. It's a little late to the party if you ask me.
