iPhone 3G “Pro”: RBC Analyst vs. Magic 8-Ball

Welcome to iPhone Analysts vs. the Magic 8-Ball, where we take the often outlandish, sometime surreal predictions of iPhone analysts and pundits, blogeratti and the ‘net elite, and compare them to the potentially equally precise prognostications of a… magic 8-ball (running on an iPhone, of course!)
Mike Abramsky, seasoned veteran of of RBC weighs in on an iPhone 3G “Pro” with the following specs, and the Magic 8-Ball chimes in with its pedictions in italics:
- iPhone 3G “Pro” nickname. As I see it, yes
- Retail price to stay the same $199/$299. My reply is no
- Wireless UMTS/HSUPA, Wifi, Bluetooth. My reply is no
(Note: our understanding is that HSUPA is to uplink what HSPDA is to downlink, and someone’s mixing up their UMTS technologies there and really means a 3.5G system) - 3.2MP camera with flash and video recording. Don’t count on it.
- 16GB/32GB storage. Most likely
- 0.1″ thinner. Yes
- AT&T to get it before the rest of the world. Most likely.
- Growth will not accelerate. Don’t count on it.
Okay, so both of their predictions seem a little hinkey to us, but what do we know? Bring on WWDC 2009, and until then, thanks everyone for playing Analyst vs. Magic 8-Ball and be sure to leave your predictions, and your thoughts on their predictions, in the comments!

My predictions
1) More powerful energy efficent processor 2) Better camera for video recording 3) Faster network connection 4) More storage 5) $499/$599 (with At&t’s buy back plan which will probably bring the price to $350-$450)
It’s apple so if they raise storage it will stay the same price but replace the older version. All I think they will do is add a better camera and/or video. Obviously a new design but nothing that would make me jump to this one and leave my 3G behind. I think next year it will be a big hardware update.
I did it on my iPhone:
“Will the new iPhone 3G run on Windows Mobile 7″ – “Yes”
The magic 8-ball never lies :O
I say yes to all of that. I’m not paying any more than 399 for 32GB though. I’ll do what I can with 16 even though I desperately need a 32GB. I think they should of introduced 32GB on the iPhone 3G. i would of gladly forked out the extra bucks. The main reason I’ll be buying the next iPhone is for storage. Hopefully they have a better battery on the new one under 3G. I’m a movie person and have a lot of movies on my Mac
I also saw this news when I was looking for an iPhone 3G case in dealsniper.com.

It will be released soon. So good.
But, I had just got an iPhone 3G. So bad.
iPhone 3G Pro? I would definitely go for it!
I like downloading applications, games, and songs, I like watching movies too!!
This 32GB is coming up! I will buy it for no doubt!
