I see your point about more permanent settings versus frequently used options, but I still don't think I like it. I often download a new app, use it for a week or two, adjust my usage to its quirks, and only then accidentally discover it has settings outside the app. I'm sure I've deleted (and rated poorly) some apps because I never thought to check Settings to see if I could make it work better. And a lot of apps have the more frequently used stuff in the iPhone Settings rather than inside the app.

@Muero

The Settings App is kind of like you Control Panel in Windows or Settings in Mac OS X. Theoretically, it's where you would make certain customization settings that you would rarely if ever change. I believe Apple calls settings that you might change more regularly "Options" and encourages developers to put those in the app itself. I, for one, love the Settings App solution because it creates a "set it and forget it" scenario that doesn't clutter up the actual app. I wish more developers used it properly, though.

I believe Apple recommends storage of settings in the Settings app :/

" And for convenience, we’ve moved fring settings to the general iPhone settings, so there’s no need to open fring each time you want to make a small change."

Argh! Why do people do this? Now you have to EXIT the program to make a small change in settings! How does that make sense?
