Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7 Now Live! Let the Note Syncing Resume!
Apple has just released Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7, and incremental update to their current desktop and laptop operating system (widely expected to be supplanted later this year by Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard).
Why does this matter for iPhone users? When iPhone 3.0 Beta 4 arrived, note syncing -- which worked fine under Betas 1-3 and OS X Leopard 10.5.6 -- was suddenly gone, replaced with a statement saying simply that OS X Leopard 10.5.7 would be required for note syncing from then on. Beta 5 arrived with nothing but the same warning. Hopefully with 10.5.7 now available, note sync -- still something of a sore spot having taken 2 years to deliver -- will be restored.
Apple has also been known to sneak other iPhone friendly features, like Google syncing, into previous updates -- and not so friendly bugs into others that made Jailbreaking more difficult -- so we always keep our fingers just a tiny bit crossed.

Can anyone confirm whether the DFU bug is still there or 'fixed' with this new update?
I know we've had to install the 10.5.5 IOUSB kernal before entering the iPhone/iPod Touch into DFU mode.
Cool. Now developers can get their apps ready for the DAY they release 3.0. Yay!!!
I don't think the DFU problems were a "bug". The iPhone still operates perfectly normal, and can still be restored from DFU mode - through iTunes or Xcode.
The Dev team sure thought it was a bug, and called it so.
On my mac, the only way to have iTunes accept DFU mode, was to install the 10.5.5 IOUSB kernal.
There were thousands that had to either do this or use that "Fix DFU mode" script that originated from macosxhints forum. Obviously the iPhone didn't still operate "perfectly normal."
so has the DFU problem been fixed?
using a powered USB hub on 10.5.6 will allow the iPhone to enter DFU mode. so lets hope it still works on 10.5.7!
Because i used the patch to enable dfu, the update didnt work:/
What is the difference between 10.5.7 combo update and the regular 10.5.7 update. Can someone brake it down for me?

I believe the combo includes itunes and quicktime as a bundle package
Nope I've never seen anyone on 10.5.6 be unable to restore genuine firmware from DFU mode in iTunes or Xcode. It affects QuickPWN and the like, but does not affect normal use of the iPhone.

@ Truth - Thank you for your post which was relevant to the discussion. Windows is a joke, I'm glad 10.5.7 is finally out. PC users can have their viruses and bugs.
@Korg and @Spidesol: The combo update allows users to update to 10.5.7 from any other version of 10.5; that's why it weighs in at 700+ MB. The regular update, called Delta, only allows users that are running 10.5.6 to update to 10.5.7.
"DFU bug" has been fixed has been fixed with this update. Where do the notes get synced to?
I haven't gotten this yet. A problem I've been having gas to do with Front Row. When the music info and album art work reflects , sometimes there are horrible red pixels. I have no idea what that is about. It's been that way since I got my iMac Aug 2008. Maybe that will be fixed , maybe in snow leopard.
