The Future is Now: DSLR Remote for iPhone
The short of this one is that you plus your DSLR camera (Canon currently, Nikon in development) into your computer), run a server on your computer, and then run DSLR Remote on your iPhone and — Boom! — you can get the live preview right from the camera lens on your iPhone, adjust all sorts of settings like white balance, ISO, etc. and “fire” pictures off when you’ve got it set up, and set on, just exactly what you want.
The long of this is, with iPhone 3.0 coming and it’s APIs for peripheral connection via dock and Bluetooth, we ain’t seen nothing yet. It’s not hard to imagine more and more gadgets (and even appliances) suddenly taking advantage of what could be one of the most flexible and powerful “remote controls” on the market.
If iPhone 1.0 was multi-touch and the interface, 2.0 was App Store, 3.0 is still looking to be all about the accessories.

How about direct connection to desktop computers? Look, the cloud is one thing, but syncing shouldn’t have to be via website. I swear if I have to explain why Bonjour – which magically works – is not magically working, I am going to SCREAM.
This begs the question…What would everyone like to see controlled?
Personally, I want complete integration with my PS3. I’m not a big gamer, but I want to be able to control my media content and movies via a remote. I haven’t tried BD Touch. Will this do what I’m looking for?

Turn off the xbox and go outside more. This chicks face is terrible. Her rack is the only thing worth mentioning and…news flash, they ALL have racks. In LA this girl is a 5 at best.
I’d love to see this for the Nikon D90.
Does this mean that your camera has to be tethered to your computer? If so, it’s not as functional as I’d like it, but it’s still super cool!

You’re away on a trip or something. A friend comes to your front door at home. The overhead infrared light triggers the camera built into the door and send a ping to your iPhone. You pick up, see your friend and speak to him/her on your iPhone via the speaker built into your front door and arrange to meet up blah, blah. blah…
You book the flight for your return home. On your iPhone you check the water and heating settings at home and trigger the hot water to heat up for a bath when you arrive.
Every home will have a wireless box to do these things – the planet will save a packet on wasted fuel bills and we will all be happy.

Requires camera tethered and server software running & accessible to the internet on that computer? major security issues and nothing any other device connected to the web can’t do… another iphone app claiming a lot more glory than it deserves.
I decided to give it a try today, but keep getting an error message. The application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
UGH- I can’t find anything on their site about it. Plus, in the tutorial, they never mention Bonjour, yet you have to install it and I can’t figure out if that is causing the issue or not.
Anyone have any luck?
Law, saw your post on Onones blog and post but guess they didnt want my fix post there. I to had the problem as you do and there is a fix, Go to Microsoft’s web site and search for and installed: vcredist_x86.exe file It is a components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications developed with Visual C++ Once i installed that, That error message went away and the server program started working. Give that a try
