I read this from another persons post. I found this to be quite helpful however, I am at the beginning stages. I further read that the sync will go thru, however it will take some hours for the feed to update from WL to Google Cal.

@Ed... saw that article yesterday. Great concept yet the kicker is it's a separate app! Bigger picture is Google needs to get push going. I think they have enough cash to make it happen. I heard someone say IMAP does blah blah blah. Sorry it's not Push. I heard someone forwards their gmail to Yahoo as they have push. Google trumped by Yahoo?

@Hank: I agree with you. It is a great app, but you should be able to turn your computer off and have it work. They list something on their website to this effect using perl, but for those of us who are not geniuses, we have no way of using this.

Also: What about a basic gmail notifier app!!!???

Ive been using this all morning. Once you figure out that not all apps are set to prowl by default its great. The "send a notification" feature on the website is a great, free alternative to mobile me's find my iphone push messsages

I disagree with almost everyone on this one. I don't know what you guys are using it for but for gmail and Twitter this app stinks. Yeah it works but it seems to be a hacked together piece. I see how it has potential but look at the limitations of it. All it does is push. So if I have a dm on Twitter prowl will tell me I do, but that's it. Now I have to go into prowl to clear the badge, which I could turn off. Then close prowl and open another Twitter client to read the dm. I am using the new windows version of growl. There are limited things you can really do with it right now. What is the mac experience like? I know growl is used by many on the mac. I just don't see the point in a push app just to push and give you no relevant information. I think I am just going to delete this. Am I just not using it right?

I tried it and removed the app. Not that it was not working but for me (again just for me) having to rely on my desktop PC for Push notifications is not true Push. Now if I could turn off the PC and still have it work, well.. then I would not need Prowl. Great concept however for those that love it!!

Been using this for a day now. There is soooo much potential for this app - love the fact that I can step away from my Mac for an hour or two and still get my important notifications

Prowl also allows arbitrary notifications without growl, if you have a little bit of scripting ability. On the faq page, they provide a perl script to get you started. Example use:

./prowl.pl -username=XXXXX -password=XXXXX -application="From my app" -event="My event" -notification="This is a notification"

Others have supplied ruby, python, and php versions, but all are just wrappers around an https GET; any language would suffice.

Been using it for 2 days now and it's quite awesome. leave my laptop to go grab lunch, no need to SIGN OUT of ADIUM and then LOG ON to beejive just for a 30 minute step-away... get push notifications while im gone log in if necesesary to respond!

also transmission download notifications are great!

I've been using this since yesterday and it's already one of my favorite apps. You can throw ANYTHING at it and it will push it to you from Growl.

I've only been using it for a little bit but it's working well. However, I can't seem to get Twitterrific's Growl notifications to push to my phone.
