Drat missed it again!
Did they talk about the SMS iPhone attack vector being reported by appleinsider.com ?
You guys gave Apple a pretty hard time about the Google Voice App Store denial. In the past, any new features of a popular platform were likely developed by some internal group and probably held for an indefinite period of time while the idea was kicked around every which way and then alpha and beta tested before being released to the general user base. Now a lot of these innovations, at least for the iPhone platform come from outside developers who can get their functionality massively distributed within days via the App Store. I’m not sure that we can expect the caretakers of what is now a huge platform to be able to accept new functionality that quickly. It’s not that they have made a unyielding decision right now, it’s just that they are likely giving themselves more time to consider it.
@icebike: We did indeed. (We actually covered it at the beginning of the month, at will follow up when Charlie Miller discloses tomorrow at Black Hat)
@Statcoder:
I can’t wait for the podcast to listen to the google voice rejection discussion.
But it is now official!
That story has hit the New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/29/technology/companies/29apps.html
Apple never backtracks on anything till they get embarrased in the Times.
The bad news is that the article is so wimpy Apple will likely stand pat.
