Please dont call it the iPad. That would be a very poor choice for a name. Sounds just like iPod. The name if iTablet is really perfect for this device.

Seriously, do you think Apple would bother releasing something that is nothing but an extension of Apple TV or a second remote screen for your Mac, and then hang 3G into it?

My iPhone can be an X Window server for my Linux or Unix machine from anywhere. If that story was leaked pre-release would you have thought there would be just a few hard core fans?

The stories that are leaking out just make no sense at all. I still predict the tablet will be big, open new horizons, and start a new product rush.

There is simply no point in wasting R&D manpower on another laptop. Or a remote screen.

The days of splashing iPods with a fresh coat of paint and drinking in thunderous applause (of paid shills) at the Apple Music event are over. That level of cheese-factor just won't sell in this economy.

So don't expect this tablet to be a MacBook Air minus the bottom half, or an iPhone super-sized with fries.

If thats all it is it will be the the clearest signal to the world that Apple has lost its edge and is on a downward spiral.

If Jobs is driving it the chances of coming out with just another me too device declines exponentially.

The probability of comming up with a disruptive technology (in a good way) device that will make all the "in the box" thinkers eat crow and stand in line to buy it increases greatly.

This is what Jobs does best.

But I gotta ask, killing a product because it had too little memory?!? How stupid is that?

Tim, I’d imagine there are engineers working on the hardware who are doing nothing with software, and application developers making custom apps for the device that aren’t designing the hardware.

Steve Jobs has the vision to make a great product (I.e. iPhone). I hope he micro manages this new product as much as he did with the iPhone. I am excited to see if there is really going to be an Apple television in the future (not appleTV). Video will soon be all digital (no more DVD’s) and having a TV/computer will be a handy item.

I’m still not sold on the usefulness of a product like this, but I sure am excited to see it!
