Vonage Mobile iPhone App Gets Accepted into App Store

    Hi guys,

What do you think about Gene Munster’s comment that the iPhone will go multi-carrier in 2010? And do you think that Aplle will redesign and release a new iPhone in the summer of next year? Basically, the design and the screen tech of the iPhone is already 3 years old!

  2. linoox says:

Yeah, that’s something I’ve been wondering about since they announced the 3GS phone. I mean the screen resolution, the basic design as well as the whole OS hasn’t been drastically redesigned. Which other Apple product (besides the Apple TV) hasn’t seen more than 2 years no redesign? Even the MacBook got a complete overhaul last fall. Do you think Apple will revamp their OS and look of the iPhone? Maybe back to more aluminium like the Macs?

  3. Icebike says:

Multi Carrier is good news, but only if it comes with an Apple Approved carrier-Unlock for phones beyond their contract. It will be interesting to see if they volunteer this before or after Congress forces it upon them.

But another interesting topic might be the next bit thing in Instant Message Apps: Speech to text!! http://tinyurl.com/nrsbek (Its tiny url because it has underscores).

  4. linoox says:

@Icebike A new carrier-unlock system would be greatly appreciated. I’m curious to see if the FCC and Congress will have a greater involvement in the Apple/At&t liaison in the coming months. What will the FCC do with the information they got from Google, Apple and AT&T?

  5. Icebike says:

    @Linoox:

    I’m watching that intently too…

And while we are on the subject of Google, Vonage gets a VOIP app approved while Google is frozen out… http://www.dailytech.com/Apple+Rejects+Torrent+App+Approves+Vonage+App/a

Apple rejects a bit torrent monitoring app. It doesn’t transfer, it just monitors. It might encourage copyright violations Apple says. Note to apple: So do hard drives.

  6. linoox says:

I’m really hoping Apple addresses their app store approval process at the next iPod/Music event! They have to reach out to consumers and developers and show them why they have such problems with the store.

Vonage is interesting. I’m still waiting for the day I can do video chat with a Skype or iChat app on my iPhone over 3G…somehow I seriously doubt that will ever happen:(…

  7. kenny23601 says:

Just a quick question for the experts. Does anyone knows how to do an email reminder like “Outlook” on the iPhone. I hate having to transfer information from email to the calendar everytime I need to be reminded of something.

  8. John Messner says:

I am also hoping Apple can provide more info on the approval process. There is a golf app, TeeShot, that has been in the approval process since around July 21. Apple indicated about a 2 weeks ago that it would be Sept1, but that date has come and gone and the developer can not get any more information from Apple.

  9. Waidt says:

Could the iTablet have a high speed alternately polarized oled HD screen that would allow a user with polarized glasses to view in stereoscopic 3D?

  10. Waidt says:

For Augmented Reality to be truely useful, it needs a gyroscope, which by definition is a mechanical device. Is there a way to implement this either electronically or with some form of nanotechnology?

  11. Waidt says:

And Chris, please, please, please get a microphone like the others that doesn’t cut in and out. The voice activation circuitry makes you sound like you have a speech impediment. My profuse aplogies if you do, but I’ve heard you before on an earlier show where you sounded fine.

  12. Waidt says:

Also, I’ve heard this show live once with the Ustream app over 3G, but now it requires WiFi. Is this another instance of AT&T’s influence?

  13. fastlane says:

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next iPhone hadn’t already been half redesigned before the 3GS’s release (along with new features already half-baked). Everything we have now was probably near completed early 2009. They gotta stay ahead of the game, while also balancing that out with staying current.

I missed the Podcast… gonna catch it later.

I have been looking for an article like this, thank you very much!
