Dev Team Releases PwnageTool 3.1 for Mac OS X
The Dev Team have updated their blog to let the jailbreakers of the world know how to go about jailbreaking iPhone 3.1. It seems as if Apple has really thrown a monkey wrench into jailbreaking the 3.1 software, however, so sit tight as this may be a bit confusing…
First and foremost they have released the PwnageTool 3.1 for Mac OS X that should only be used with the original iPhone and iPhone 3G. Sorry 3GS owners, you’ll have to wait. Be sure to heed some of the Dev Teams warnings before attempting to jailbreak your device.
- If you are using a 3G iPhone with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should only upgrade to 3.1 with a PwnageTool created .ipsw. – Stay away from Apple’s direct updates.
- If you have an original iPhone (1st generation) then 3.1 unlock works with this PwnageTool release. iPhone 3G users upgrading to 3.1 will need to continue using ultrasn0w with a PwnageTool created 3.1 .ipsw
- PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch (1st Generation) and the iPhone 3G.

I can’t wait till they release a “3GS solution for windows”, hopefully before Sept. 25th. I don’t wan’t to miss MMS compatibility just because I’m on OS 3.0.

Updated my 3g – with no issues Except: There is no ATT logo – doesnt seem to matter. Can’t add saurik’s repo (I remember when i updated to 3.0 I added it – now I cant remember what the repo was-HELP)

Just an observation, but has anyone noticed that the comment section on the Devteam’s blog is the most painful thing in the world to read? Seriously, I would rather get eye sodomized with a shard of glass than try to get more than a couple of comments in. The lack of understanding, patience and grammar is enough to make a grown man weep.

OH MY GOD… what idiocy. I will say it ONE last time. TETHERING with the Iphone 3G and 3GS with official apple 3.1 upgrade or out of the Box 3G or 3GS IS DEAD..DEAD..DEAD. The Dev team WILL NEVER…NEVER…NEVER bring it back. A few and I mean a VERY few people either updated using ONLY Dev-team software or did not update at all. Those people can still tether. But NO ONE and I mean NO ONE else (which is pretty much all the rest of us) can tether ever again. There is NO HACK, NO WORKAROUND, or NO TRICK that will ever bring tethering back. News flash I work at apple so I know what I’m talking about. The ONLY important thing about any of these phones is tethering all the rest is bullshi*t…AND TETHERING with and up to date iphone is DEAD..PROVE ME WRONG..
well, I think that Apples stocks are on a downhill-rock’n-roll then soon;)
…sad! Thoot hat iphone is realy something nice!? 700e-800e in some shops.. For a useles soapbox its too much.. If there was eaven a nice offline car-navigator on it for Free or at least something else useful then it would be something next to Nokias old 5110.. Now its just a more-money sucking and gready,boornig nice looking toy…PROVE ME WRONG..
