Wednesday Crazy Rumor: Could We See an iPhone on Verizon by the Holidays?

Could we see a combination CDMA/HSPA iPhone hit Verizon before the holidays? No, we don't think so either, but that's the rumor we're hearing again.
Of course, we're no stranger to iPhone on Verizon rumors, whether they be wishful thinking or the result of ongoing, longterm Apple/carrier negotiations that may or may not ever amount to anything, it's ironic that rumors about America's most reliable network are almost always anything but...
Given the limited remaining lifespan on CDMA (Verizon's going LTE for 4G) and market (primarily the US -- even Bell and Telus in Canada are going HSPA), it just seems like such an un-Apple-like thing to do. Then again, Verizon's customer base is no doubt a huge temptation for Apple. Given how many iPhones they sell on AT&T, if they hit Verizon, we can only imagine the market share shift. (Not to mention the load balancing of network traffic that would hopefully follow).
Again, we're not getting our hopes up. We don't think we'll see an iPhone on Verizon any time soon, especially not before the holidays. Let's face it, it's almost October already and the window to effectively launch and market the iPhone on a new US network by then is rapidly diminishing from slim to none.
But, if you want to sound off anyway about how much you want a an iPhone world-phone on Verizon, hit the comments.
[Thanks tipster!]

The answer is no.
Sorry to be a downer - and off topic - but the only thing from Apple that I give two shites about right now is them fixing 3.1, which has totally hosed my very expensive pocket warmer.
Probably won't happen, but I would buy one in an instant if they did! My wife just left Verizon for AT&T just to have an iPhone, but in the first 2 weeks now she has had more dropped calls than in the previous 3 years with Verizon. She has also had to endure 2 different outages of greater than 2 hours each. There is NO WAY I will join her on AT&T, but would love one on Verizon!
Now that Apple has made phones for the China market, and announced phones for the Korea market I think there is increased chances for this to happen in places where the exclusivity contract with ATT does not rule.
Apple has grown large enough that the chip manufacturers will develop custom radio chips for the iPhone which fit in the same space and are electrically and logically identical to the original. Since the radio chip usually incorporates everything you need to talk to the tower, Apple's programming can remain largely the same.
Making a CDMA/HSPA/LTE chip would be a snap for Infineon, or Broadcom, or any of 6 or 8 others. (Actually these are already on the market). Obsolescence would not be a problem, because these chips build in future radio Protocols along with the old.
But there is still that exclusivity contract to get around. ComputerWorld seems to think that will get extended http://tinyurl.com/lm2zow for at least another year.
I seriously doubt it. I have heard these rumors B4 I was a verizon customer for 13 yrs and for the last 1yr and half I heard that verizon was going to get the iPhone. Well iam still hearing the same thing and nothing I am glad I didn't sit and wait for veriozn who always gets the new stuff late. I love my iPhone and service with At&t has been great, when and IF they ever get it I'll still B with At&t. I really think verizon will rape people with the cost.
They turned it down, screw 'em.
Not gonna happen, but if it did, imagine the extra charges for GPS and the new red and black VZW-themed homescreen/icons
I suspect it'll be LTE time before we have a chance of VZW iPhone.
I heard midnight tonight it will go live on their website. Along with the iTablet, the Vmac and Vtv.....
Doesn't AT&T have 5 year deal with Apple? That would end in what, 2012? Also Verizon wants to sell you everything, ringtones, video, they don't let you do anything outside their software. They usually have a custom Verizon interface on their phones so I don't know how that would fly with iTunes and the iPhone OS. One thing is sure, competition is better for all of us.
Anyone know the answer to this:
If/when Apple eventually opens up to Verizon, will current AT&T iPhone users be able to switch using the iPhone they already have? or will they need to buy a new Verizon compatible iPhone?
@Davie199 where did you hear that? I really do hope that one will hit the Most reliable 3g netword and biggest!! they also will be introducing their 4g network in someplaces next year and will have it out way b4 at&t..and i really want an apple phone on verizon even if its not the iphone...the rumors i hear are that the iphone will stick with at&t but their is another apple phone for verizon hitting the market early next year...
@kturn i believe you will need to buy a new iphone b/c verizon uses a CDMA network with no simcards so you will need to get a compatible version...and the network will be switching to LTE next year and that will be way more compatible with the iphone so i think next summer(2010) is when we will se it.. @Stan the Man they do and it expires at the end of this year...even though the iphone didn't hit stores till 07, they signed the deal back in 05 (i believe)...so it is up at the end of this year is all i know
Hey Rene question, 3.1.1 is supposed to drop sometime soon is what everybody is guessing, dident AT&T say that mms would be issued through a software update through iTunes on the 25th and they just dropped iTunes 9.1 yesterday. Any thoughts or is this just me with wishful thinking?
Hate verizon. Hate AT&T. Let's have something better and new! The iPhone network how about?like a network that shared off all other companies network so lots of data go through but this iPhone nework with only iPhone!
I have no interest in switching to Verizon, but I'd love to see a Verizon iPhone, so that (1) much of the network load gets shifted off of AT&T, and (2) AT&T has an incentive (in the form of iPhone competition from Verizon) to provide better service.
@tjpratikus
He made it up.
The only differencr to me is the service but I don't get that many drop calls anyway verizon doesn't even offer unlimited text which is a plus for me and on AT&T I have roll over minutes up the ying yang so inless Verizon blows me away I would stick with AT&T!!
Speaking about iPhones in other carriers, the big story today seems to be the iPhone being approved for sale in South Korea.
http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/GadgetGuide/wireStory?id=8646903
(I have to ask, is that a Jailbroken phone they showed in that story?)
This is good news for a number or reasons, not the least of which the South Korean network is FAST and state of the art, and Apple will be able to solve many performance bottleneck problems in the iPhone in such an environment.
Doesn't the contract extend all the way to 2011??? And why verizon? Why not sprint or t-mobile? Anyway, I doubt that the iPhone would go to verizon this year. If it does wouldn't that break the contract between Apple and AT&T?
I've been following this on a daily basis and hoping one day i'll see the good news of the Iphone going to Verizon. I was w/ T-Mobile prior to my crave to the iPhone and never had a problem w/ them for the 5 yrs i was with them.
I love 3.1 but verison will not be getting the iPhone this rumour was likely started from within verison as an attempt to stall the move of clients to AT&T in hopes that the iPhone will eventually be on their network
I am just waiting for Verizon to get the iPhone. Once it does i am the first sucka in line to get one. Vrz should have had it right from the beginning!I just refuse to go to att for service. As poor as their network is i'll just stick with what i got till the market opens up next week.
How do rumors get started? People make stuff up with misleading headlines. Anyone who knows anything about the situation knows that the iPhone is nowhere near Verizon.
Doubt it... But even if it did I would NEVER go to Verizon... They are so greedy they will charge you 10 cents for every e mail you get, 25 cents for everytime you open google maps and 50 cents each time you open youtube.. Nope... I'll stay with ATT.... my coverage here in Florida is pretty good...
Why you are complaining so much for your carriers?! I live in Europe and i have never had a droped call in my life with my carrier. The first time when i hear for droped calls is this blog. Is really USA very problematic in cell carriers?!
@Luis, I have had the iphone on at&t and went back to VZW because of cost (i know more people with VZW, gotta love free mobile to mobile). Anyway, verizon and at&t are the same as far as cost goes. my iphone plan after taxes and berfore overages was about 110, and my blackberry plan cost about 104 a month. They would NOT rape you on the plan, it would be the same 30 data fee that verizon chrages. I hate when people don't know what they are talking about. I have seen this on other blogs and it always pisses me off. All carriers have mandatory data fees now. If you wanna save money, you go with sprint, not at&t and not even t mobile; but sprint.
Not very likely at all. You all do realize that Apple would have to change out the RF modules for this to work. This is not an easy task and took apple like 10 months to get its current GSM RF chipset to work the first time. And, there's still some interference, dropped calls, and antenna range problems.
Visi - It all depends on the carrier and the part of the country you live in. I wish the service here was as dependable as it is in Europe. So far, my experience with GSM networks (like AT&T) in my part of Dallas-FtWorth is terrible (dropped calls daily). However, both Verizon and Sprint are more reliable. Believe me, I hate the fact that Verizon costs more than everybody else, but in the past 3 years I can't remember the last time I had a dropped call!
No drop calls? I suppose all radio stations are able to broacast throughout Europe without disruption too. There must not be any mountains there either. LOL
I'll tell you what, I had more dropped calls, crappy phones, and piss poor customer service through Verizon than you could probably imagine. Everyone thinks Verizon has this amazing network that has awesome coverage and is high quality. I have not once had clear phone calls through Verizon. As soon as I switched to AT&T I got better service, a better phone, and substantially better call quality, on both ends.
Don't believe all you hear.
My Verizon contract is up Oct 20th and cant wait to get an Iphone. Will be switching to At&T at the stroke of midnight
I have had AT&T since they came to Alaska and wouldn't change if I had a choice(No Verizon in AK) I have never dropped a call and my Iphone is smoking fast on the internet
Verizon doesn't allow WiFi so I will never have Verizon. I use my WiFi connection at my house all the time so I can do iTunes Remote, connect to my server, etc.
I want an IPHONE! My overrated organizer (Blackberry Curve) lost all of my respect, when my girlfriend and I were using the navigation and GPS functions to find our way around Chicago. Her iphone was finding near by attractions and restaurants while I stared at the sand clock loading for every app! C'mon, Let's make this Monopoly happen!
@tjpratikus I made it up, like to stir the pot... I would love to see the iPhone on VZW as I work for them (VZW) and would love the employee discount on my iPhone.. I love the phone, but really dislike the AT&T network. GSM is flexible, yes, but CDMA is a much stronger, more reliable network. That is a proven fact. @ Stan the Man - should VZW get the iPhone, the UI would not change, check out the other smart phone/PDA's on VZW, it is the UI of the mfg. Also, you mentioned the VZW charges for ringtones, video and everything... Please let me know where you are getting free ringtones and videos FROM AT&T.. I am sure a lot of folks would love to know so we can all take advantage.. One more point, as far as a 5 year contract goes, that is all rumor and speculation. No one knows, no one has ever seen it. I am sure there is something, but no one really knows.
i have 18 phones for business on verizon, and I NEED an iphone, but can't stand at&T. I think at&T is going to win. Dammit
@ Brad Check out the WinMo phones on their website, most of them have WiFi. As for the Blackberry devices, to date, there is not a single CDMA berry that has WiFi. VZW has made it very clear that all future PDA/smartphones will have it including BB's. So to say VZW does not allow it, is wrong!
@Luis - you need to do some research as well..
I find it very funny that half of the people on this forum are so quick to judge before checking the facts..
According to an April 2009 article in the Wall Street Journal online the AT&T contract doesn't expire until 2010 and was in negotiatons to extend it till 2011. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123973238611017715.html
If I read the story correctly, it states that “ people familiar with the matter” are the ones making the claim. The folks at AT&T and Apple are both smarter than that. It also went on to say that “ An Apple spokesman declined to comment”. People at both companies value their jobs to much to talk about it. Also, as you stated, there is a 5 year deal that expires in 2012 then why would they be looking to extend the current contract until 2011, the math does not work. And if there was a current 5 year deal in place that would expire in lets say 2010, based on the extension they are trying to get says the phone was released in 2005.. And we all know it was released in 2007… None of it makes sense… See, it is all speculation. Another thing, if Apple were not looking to break into the CDMA market, why, according to their website, are they looking for engineers with CDMA experience?
ive never had a problem with my servive...Im in Florida. The sunshine state!!! sun gives better reception!! lol
This isn't going to happen anytime soon. Verizon seems to have something against getting decent phones. They continue to subsidize crappy Windows Mobile phones and completely ignore nice Android devices and the like.
I can only imagine how much larger their customer base would be if they actually had a decent lineup of phones. Their lack of decent device choices is the reason I have never been a Verizon customer.
had an iphone..now with verizon..but dude..i'd be al over it if the iphone came to verizon.
I'm trying to give information to everyone here so they can make their own decisions. None of the dates seem to make sense AT&T got a 5 year exclusive deal to talk about the iPhone but only 2-1/2 years to actually sell it? Doesn't make sense does it? Do you wait until the last minute to negotiate an extention? Not if you want to keep you job. In my opinion these dates all seem to point to no Verizon iPhone this year. AT&T is going to want to sell a bunch of phones for Christmas. Apple is going to keep tight lipped untill a deal is inked one way or the other to avoid squashing iPhone sales. In other words no comment.
Would rather a 32gb palm pre or a snapdragon android device with a full keyboard, multitouch, and 8mp camera
Sprint is currently testing a full CDMA EV-DO Iphone. There may or may not be a WiMax version. There is a pic of the Sprint Iphone and it might leak soon. Hopefully Verizon is also testing one as the rumors have said.
I hate verizon
WOULD LOVE TO SEE A VERIZON iPHONE!.. Can't stand AT&T!
At&t + iphone = awsome Verizon + iphone =
and doom
Hey Rene ou bias SON OF A WHORE BITCH!!!! WHY NO MENTION OF SPRINT...YOU FUCKIN LOSER. YOU SELF INDUCING HATING FUCKIN LIBERAL.
Hey Rene you bias SON OF A ***** *****!!!! WHY NO MENTION OF SPRINT…YOU ****** LOSER. YOU SELF INDUCING HATING ****** LIBERAL.
I have a dinosaur flip phone with Verizon, but have been waiting to upgrade until Apple comes to its senses, stops being so bloody exclusive and partners with a reliable provider. Sounds like it won't be an iPhone Christmas this year, either, but don't know if I can wait much longer for a more useful phone. Save me from Blackberry purgatory!
I have been a loyal Verizon customer since my very first cell phone. I would never go to AT&T. I have had friends who call me & they drop my calls ALL the freaking time.
Sure, it is hip to have an iphone. But it is NOT hip to drop calls when you are dealing w/ some VIP calls, ya know?
AND. When I did my 100 mile ultra marathon a few weeks ago, I was the only one to have coverage in no man's land of South Dakota. (Yeah, I posted live updates to Twitter/Facebook.) It was only b/c I had Verizon that I was able to do that. Everyone was jealous:) lol!
And besides, a keyboard is priceless to me. (Yes, I won't even get the Storm).
Rock on Verizon and Blackberry!
@sarahstanley
You know...my wife knows NOTHING...NOTHING about iPhones....NOTHING about technology....NOTHING about iPhone plans and exclusitivity to AT&T or the likes. But she just reached over and saw what I was reading and said "Oh so now you gonna be able to switch to Verizon? Great service but they suck your pockets dry"
I've never been with Verizon. She's on Verizon. Even she knows theY suck. AT&T has it's issues, but all of you can run to holier than thou Verizon but I'll stay with AT&T
Why not just put the iPhone on Sprint? It's a win win for both companies.Sprint would become a dominant company once again with a great network and the cheapest plans around for data Why Not Sprint? Apple would definately sell many iphones that we can actually use on a great network that wont rake you like Verizon.
I am with Vzw and a proud customer with the bb storm and pearl flip I went ti AT&T just to get the Iphone and I love it but I didn't switch I just got the best of both worlds Vzw (blackberry) and at@t (iPhone) gotta love them but Vzw is nt going to get it they like control and apple not havin it
Limited life-span of CDMA? Though I shouldn't be surprised an iPhone blog is completely ignorant on CDMA. To get you up to speed, Verizon stated that they plan on having their CDMA network up until 2018, since voice on CDMA is already stellar. LTE is primarily for data currently, same with WiMAX and Sprint/Clearwire.
The fact is the AT&T's network is good in some areas and sucks in others. I'd love to get an iPhone but dont because of AT&T. I love a lil crappy flip phone with Verizon that I can make and receive calls with an almost 100% success rate. I can send and receive MMS mgs, while the most advanced phone cannot. Yeah you'll be able to on Friday but I'm sure they'll be problems. Verizon turned Apple down because they were too controlling. AT&T didn't see the iPhone until a month before launch, by then it was too late for them to prepare for the ensuing demand on their network that 2 yrs later they have still to resolve. I'll stay with verizon and their crappy phones because I'm able to do what a phone does first and foremost and thats to make and receive calls without dropping them.
I just joined Verizon yesterday lol. You can only imagine how much I would love to get an iPhone on Verizon's network. It is very fast and definitely reliable as well.
iPhone on Verizons CDMA network. At least it should come with GPS and Visual voicemail turned off from the get go, since they cant do data and voice at the same time. And seeing Verizon crapware on the iPhone would really make me sick to my stomach. WiFi and Bluetooth would likely be removed also. Whats left? may as well get a RAZR..
PLEASE.! Let it pass to verizon.!!
i Hate AT&T sooo Much there assholes i had Tmobile before this i had the G1. THE SERVICE WAS AWSOME.
BUT ANYWAYS I WOULDNT MIND HAVING VERIZON..!!!
Verizon in Cali near LA Pwnz alll>!!
BTW is there a website where we can vote on this...?
Because i would Spam the CRAP.!! OUT OF IT FOR VERIZON TO WIN..!
i dont care if i have to cancell AT&T
I had Verizon until the first iphone came out, left and have never had an issue! The funny thing is being that Verizon worthless can't do voice and data over there CDMa network, the iPhone would collapse there supposedly great network. If iPhone puts such a strain on AT&T's network, what do you think it will do to a closed network like CDMA that doesn't allow voice and data simultaneously!! Everyone assumes that " THE NETWORK" will be able to handle the extra strain without realizing that iPhone users use 10 Times the data than all other smartphone users combined!!! Let's see how the one thing at a time network handles that!
Agree with Gregg above...would hate to see some crapware all over the iPhone starting with that ugly azz V on the front screen. They think they're Superman or something? I like everyone on Verizon to piss & moan about how the iPhone should be on their network. Hope it never happens!
Gregg now why the hell would it not have bluetooth? Every damn Verizon phone now a days comes bluetooth capable!!
kinda off topic - does anyone know when tethering will be enabled with 3.1? i did the "hack" on 3.0 but when i updated it was gone
The people that are praising AT&T are obviously not from the NYC area. I work within the five boro's of new York city and I cannot hold a conversation without a dropped call if I'm traveling from one boro to another or just along the FDR where there is about 3 god damn dead zones. How there's even more than one dead zone in the highway of biggest city in the world is uncomprehendable. AT&T SUCKS SO HARD in NYC I can't imagine any carrier being any F'in worse.
Love my phone, HATE my carrier.
By the way, Verizon central would never ever take a bite into iTunes and the app store.
If you could ever believe such a thing consider the following: the iPhone is bigger than a carrier. Not in volume obviously, but in weight. It's a culture, a phenomenon that attracts people like you and me to drop our carrier to go to AT&T simply because a piece of device that doesn't even have buttons.
Do you see where I'm getting at. If apple ever joined Verizon, apple would be bigger than verizon. Verizon would say to Steve jobs: you can do whatever the F you desire, we'll back you, just bring your phone to our company.
Verizon would never need to make a buck from trying to squeeze their store onto the iPhone. Verizon would already be rich just from new account sign ups that Apple would bring.
Just imagine what happens if iPhone is available for all service providers for $50 tonight, yes, all other cell phone makers will close the day after tomorrow, I think Verizon feels the pain and they will definitely do something before it is too late.
I have no problems with AT&T or my iPhone. I'm pretty happy.
I live in upstate NY. And have had at&t since cingular and have not had ONE. Not one problem with them. I was with both sprint and verizon before at&t and they where not any better and there service was worse than at&t. And what's with all the dropped calls s**t. I have had about 8 dropped calls in the past 6 yrs with this company. Maybe it's where I live I guess full 3g everywhere. If you ppl don't like it leave.
Jerry MARCUS Says:
Hey Rene you bias SON OF A ***** *****!!!! WHY NO MENTION OF SPRINT…YOU ****** LOSER. YOU SELF INDUCING HATING ****** LIBERAL.
Are you fucking retarded?
Regardless of what you think about AT&T's service or Verizon's pricing tactics the bottom line is that CDMA is not going away anytime soon, and LTE 4G is coming and will be the wave of the future because of it's global implications. This is not new news! Go read about each companies deployment on their web sites - and the thousands of news articles published on the topic. Verizon in fact goes live this fall/winter with 30 markets supporting LTE, and AT&T is behind in their deployments!! Again known facts that have even been reported by the FCC!
So, how does this affect the possibility of a Verizon iPhone? Will we see one in 2010? Who knows. The contract extension for AT&T is up in 2010 and could be renewed for another year or so. But don't think for a moment that AT&T will hold onto it's exclusivity for any length of time. At some point in the near future the iPhone will arrive on other carriers. Either through standard business deals or forced by the ever changing FCC rules. Anti-competitive practices are coming to an end - sort of.
Consider this - Vodafone, in Europe, is already a carrier of the iPhone, where anti-competitive bullshit practices are not allowed. And Vodafone is a co-owner of Verizon in the US. So the iPhone is already in the blood line. And soon it will spill over into the U.S. - the question is when? No one will ever know!
No Verizon in the US Virgin Islands, so that won't do me any good. Verizon users get charged an intl rate dialing a 340 number. AT&T is excellent here. I switched from Sprint because I can't get more than 2 bars here..... and that's when I'm outside.
Not a chance the iPhone will go to Verizon while they are on the CDMA network. Theirs no doubt that an LTE iPhone will be produced in the future. But I have a feeling it will be when AT&T is ready for LTE and NOT Verizon. Remember Verizon had a chance at the iPhone way back when and turned it down (great business decision VZ).
Verizon is crap. Now if it came to Sprint, then that would be good news.
My Verizon rep told me we'd see an iPhone late next year...but if the 5 year exclusive rumour has any bit of truth, we won't see a VZ branded iPhone till 2012.
I'm not switching to VZ until I move back to northern VA. AT&T's 3G in Utah is most excellent. And I'm not moving till summer of 2011.
I don'. Know what all the bitchin is about I live in NJ and am in NY, PA alot I have no issues with my reception and or calls ever being dropped full 3G all the time. Maybe you guys should reset you network settings every once and a while and see no problems. With the known strain of iPhone on AT&T resetting your network settings every once and a while makes a big difference.
verizon= no wi fi no thanks. And for the one that asked about the iphone being on sprint. LOL That was a joke right. Very funny. The worst carrier in the world.
I CANT SAY THAT VERIZON WILL BE GETTING THE IPHONE! SO LOOK OUT!
Maybe with Verizon I wont have the data roaming battle I'm having with AT&T. I travel (domestically) a lot and am constantly hitting "off network" areas. iPhone still works fine but AT&T has threatened twice to cut me off for excessive data roaming.
It makes me sick that people constantly say how verizon is so much better. If they got the iPhone, and they won't - i read it on wiki, they'd suffer as well. AT&T is beefing up it's network as we speak. I've had no problems what so ever. I was a verzion customer for ten years. I dealt with the same issues that people keep banging on AT&T. I made the switch not long after the 3gs came out. Guess what verizon customers. I have an iPhone now and it rocks! Do you know the feeling you get when you turn your phone on and don't see the Verizon brand swimming around? How about a fully functional phone like it was shipped from the factory straight to your door? I do.
Jim great post. I was a verizon customer for 10+ years and then when version one of iPhone came out switched and never looked back. Great coverage awesome phone. No bs network that can only do one thing at a time.
come on!!!! hurry and get an iPhone Verizon!!! i'm almost due for an update and I have been looking into smart phones but your selection pretty much sucks, not sucks... it's just that i don't want what you have at the moment. Give me the iPhone or a Nokia N-something. PLEASE!!
I REALLY want an iphone but I also want it to be with Verizon. I am surprised that Apple only has AT&t. I do think more people would be going the way of an iphone if they had more phone carriers to support it. I myself, will wait. I do not want AT&T. I have an iMac computer and would love to give Apple all my business but they too have to please the customer. From a disappointed Apple supporter.
I will like to see the iPhone on Sprint too.
For mac boy and the rest of you that continue that Verizon phones dont have wifi this article is for you. http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Verizon-does-a-180-degree-change-on-Wi-Fi-article-a_6845.html Ohh and the BB Storm2 is going to be wifi enabled
Definitely enjoying my iPhone on AT&T in Atlanta. No issues whatsoever with 3G, or in my hometown in Northern Virginia. The only issue is that when I had Verizon, I got service on the Metro in DC. Not so with AT&T.
If Verizon does get the iPhone, I will be moving back immediately, so long as everything works exactly the same without any Verizon-isms (which as I understand they've eliminated most if not all.)
Most of our friends and family (sic) are on Verizon because the service is simply better than ATT (your grandpa's phone company). Apple will do so well once Verizon gets the iPhone. Better service and the iPhone? Wow, it will be heaven. Sprint is almost gone. HAHAHAHa
How can people be so stupid? Honestly? You think it will be any better with verizon? For AT&T it will be, lighten the load and open up the network a little. But verizon. Hah. Worst data coverage ever. That's what the iPhone is made to do. And that's why it's on AT&T. Who ever complained about it not working in ny... There are 8 billion people in ny. And even if one an one hundred people had an iPhone. Well you can imagine the repercusions. AT&T needs to work on is service and towers ext. But as of now. AT&T is the only company that can support the iPhone. Plus verizon will not like this iTunes business. Yuck vcast on iPhone. No thanks.
Ok, now I've read enough here to know that AT&T works absolutely GREAT in some areas of the country and absolutely SUCKS in other areas (like mine). So bottom line is, if your carrier is great in your area, then of course you are going to stay with them. As for me, AT&T will never get my business again unless they make BIG changes in my area. BTW, it was terrible in my area long before the iPhone came around.
Enjoy your phones people if you have good service. Ok, now I'm officially jealous of you iPhone users with good service!
Well I have an inside tip. Verizon will be launching the iphone on Super Bowl Sunday... commercial in the works. Hope i didnt spill the beans : /
You are all sheep!! ATT Sucks..IPhone Sucks..You Suck!
IPhone gave me cancer & Kidney Failure!!
now move out of your trailer park home and get laid once in your life sheep!..
Just a thought: The pricing for AT&T and Verizon are 99.9% IDENTICAL. So the cost thing always makes me laugh. If your looking for a bargain get T-MOBILE and lose your coverage for it. Also, how did you come to the conclusion that Verizon doesn't offer Unlimited Text?? Duh!?! And unfortunately sun....has shit to do with dropped calls because here in California AT&T drops more calls per minute then priests drop their drawers for little boys.
Been laughing too hard to ad to any serious questions but really no one knows, or is going to tell; however something that generates this much interest should definitely not be ignored.
P.S. if you have rollover minutes up the ying-yang I'd suggest getting a lower plan rather then continually paying for things you don't use. If you want to throw your money away that's fine. But charity of some kind would be best, and a write off! Sadly I don't think AT&T qualifies. Though it should.
iPhone is being debuted on super bowl sunday
Considering that the Apple/AT&T contract doesn't expire until January, I find it hard to imagine an iPhone on Verizon before late spring, early summer.
FYI on the iphone with verizon.
The i phone WILL NOT be coming to verizon. Apple and atat just inked a deal for three more years.
verizon and at&t are both great companies. Corporate is Corporate people. Business is business. All cell phone companies can be greedy. Deal with it, and stop complaining. They both have their goods and bads. I think verizon has the best coverage hands down. At&t has the best phones hands down. Verizon's CEO is stubborn and At&t is stubborn. At&t will do anything to keep the iphone on their network cause it is their biggest money maker.
I want it on verizon!
Super Bowl Sunday? Tell me more.
Had a a crappy razor in verizon. Switched to AT&T got the iPhone 3gs. Happy with the upgrade but had more reliable service on verizon
