Quick App: Snapture Camera Enhancers Goes From Jailbreak to App Store

Snapture

Snapture [$1.99 on sale - iTunes link], as can be seen by that little price and link notation right there, has gone from a must-have Jailbreak-only app, to a new home in Apple’s very own iTunes App Store.

For those unfamiliar with Snapture, it takes the iPhone camera experience to another level, such as taking photos by tapping anywhere on the screen (or lifting you finger off the screen), variable image sizes, pinch-to-zoom up to 5x, 8 direction alignment level and rapid-fire multi-shot (3 to be specific) functionality. (Yeah, color mode and taking pictures with the volume buttons didn’t survive the cross-over, but a satisfying amount did).

If you want to get a lot more out of your iPhone camera, give Snapature a try and let us know what you think!

More screen shots after the break!

Snapture has a demo which I tried on Cydia. I liked it, but never enough to pay for it.

I was very happy when it came out on the Appstore. The $1.99 introductory price is great, and I’m so glad I got it.

It is alot better than the Camera App or any of the other camera apps I’ve tried. The multishot mode works great as does the level. A big plus is the in app picture-in-picture preview. It allows you to look at the last 4 pix and delete or email the ones you want.

It’s a worthy replacement for the Camera App. Get it while its only $1.99

  2. ermax18 says:

Did they drop the ability to snap a shot with the volume button?

  3. ermax18 says:

Never mind. I should have read the whole article.

  4. ermax18 says:

And it looks like is has been removed from Cydia.

  5. d.allen says:

Snapture and Spoofapp in the same day.. hmmm.. keep them coming Apple.

  6. unhappy says:

So what happens to the cydia users that bought this? Are we left in the dust? I’m happy that they finally made it into the app store, but feeling a bit cheated especially since I’ve supported them for a couple of years now.

Any other cydia users feeling burned?

  7. JimmyD says:

    I’m diggin’ this app!

  8. wtlaw says:

My cydia version works fine. The app version is only for 3.1 and not as complete as cydia’s. Good luck !!!!

  9. Amy says:

Can anyone compare this app to Camera Genius? I bought that one awhile ago and don’t know if the hype behind snapture is a reason to switch.

  10. Binja says:

Snapture makes camera genius look like junk. Trust me. You want it. It’s worth 20 bucks easily. At 2 it’s a steal. Get. It. Now.

  11. Jorgensen says:

Is it possible to adjust exposetime ? I find I find it very difficult taking photos that has a bright background.

  12. Gino says:

Yuck, this app is only for 3.1 !! I’m assuming All of us who are jailbroken are not on 3.1?

do you think apple will have a lot of their new apps only compatible with 3.1+ in order to incline people to give up their jailbreak?

I can’t ever give up my jailbreak. Backgrounding and being able to SMS anywhere from my phone are Simple features alone that I can’t imagine living without.

    Anyone else with me?

  13. Rene Ritchie says:

3.1 added APIs and reduced camera restrictions, it seems, so apps like this probably require 3.1 to use those APIs.

An App Store app can’t be on Cydia, it’s part of their agreement with Apple.

  14. frank says:

BREAKING*** Snapture will allow jailbreakers to upgrade to the released app in the store. Check out Just Another iPhone Blog for more details….

  15. steve says:

Nice app, but it’s way slow to start up. I wish it booted up at least as fast as the builtin camera app.

  16. Keithw says:

I just downloaded this app and I really like it. It is 10x better than the standard camera app – and all the features work very well.

  17. Mark says:

Ours is not the same type of app but we would love for all of the techies to try out iMake Memes and give some feedback. We realized that another Meme app was in review at the same time then they delayed our approval for our “keywords” apparently being the same as the other app and then our app came out 3 days later. It is frustrating as a developer but we would love any feedback to help improve ours or if anyone has ideas about how to become more competitive in the iTunes store. We considered Cydia for another app that has been in review for a month, but just not sure if that’s the way to go. I wish they had “stages” of review so you would at least have an idea of what’s going on with the process. I’d love to hear from any of you guys! Thanks for the feedback and for being apart of a fun community (most of the time!)

  18. Mark says:

PS… Is there a difference in the Snapture from Cydia and iTunes store or did you guys find it to be the same? Thanks!

  19. Ron says:

this is such a cool feature that iphone has added haha. there’s actually some very similar accessories to this on http://www.earbudzstore.com/ check ‘em out.

  20. tys says:

The Camera Zoom app in the App Store has the volume button shutter, I don’t know why Snapture would get rid of it, it’s the best feature!
