Hello People! Just wanted to tell you that I bought tickets to Metallica concert on Sep 14th, event The Big 4: Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax. I think Metallica always said you could bootleg their shows and share them. They just don’t want you to get their albums for free with P2P programs. That nuance was never explained very well in the media but I saw an interview back in 99 where Lars said exactly that.

It a pretty cool app. As a member of LiveMetaliica I had access to the stream of the concert I went to back in January that you get free after each show, as well as the most recent show. After each show you will access to the stream of that show.

I have no problem with Metallica and their piracy stance, as I never downloaded from Napster or any of the other sites.

Ya Metallica sold out when they cut their hair off and made that p.o..s album saint anger and it was the drummer Lars who was the douche about the piracy stuff. The rest of the band just had to go along for the ride.

I was a huge fan in the 80s, but burned out from that stuff a long time ago. I doubt I could even sit through one song today.

Metallica has left a bad taste in my mouth with all their piracy stuff. I won’t buy anything Metallica related, ever again. I have all their CD’s up until they went crazy. Even though I would have downloaded their newest via the web, I would have eventually purchased their CD’s. But now, not so much. If i hear them come on the radio, I flip the channel. To hell with Metallica. I know an awful lot of people who share that sentiment.

@Victor I think they’ve clearly said that this is their way of taking a “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” approach to fighting piracy. There’s no way they would have agreed to something like this a few years ago, but I think they see the reality of the current landscape. It does seem contradictory, but I can see the logic.

I find it odd that they were so proactive in their solution to concert bootleggers, but so destructive to people who downloaded their music.
