I purchased this for the introductory price of $69.00 and just paid the introductory price of $19.00 for the traffic. I travel around 550 miles per week. Navigon NEVER loses its location unless you are hemmed in between sky scrappers downtown, a problem shared by my $1,300.00 Magellan and my $250.00 quest. It does not take overly long to acquire a signal. You can control your ipods music from within the navigation menu. The voiced over street names come seeminglessly over the music, with a slight diminishing of the music volume while voice instructions are controled (volume of the voice commands is adjustable). Contact list addresses will come over seeminglessly as a destination 90% of the time. Points of interest finding is about 90% successful at finding what i want usually. Direct address entry via touch screen is a snap. Put a $10 dollar iphone cradle onto an air conditioning vent in yoru dash and plug into your cars aux jack, and you just turned your dash into an information/entertainment center that usually costs thousands of dollars via on-star or ford synch, all in a device that goes with you car to car, air port to air port..in your pocket...that you are taking with you ANYWAY. I used the googel map device..it sucked. Every time i used it, i had to remember to turn off my auto-lock setting...EVERY TIME. It also asks you to hold your phone and do a "figure 8" about ever 3 minutes, while you are driving...half the time the direction it points you in is not the direction you are actually driving. You wont know a turn is coming until you have already passed it (if your eyes are on the road where they belong). It will NOT auto-reroute you after you miss it. It takes longer to acquire and plot in a route..often. Navigon works with ZERO monthly subscription fees and zero month fees for the traffic after the initial purchase...all for cheaper then a "stand alone" unit cost 6 months ago..one that will almost always be in your other car or at home when you need it most by the way..lol. No, this unit is not over priced. The old Magellans and Garmins that cost in excess of 1,000 4 or 5 years ago..and did not even include all the maps of the US were a joke..but this thing is the real deal.

@TATom1981

You're making a lot of assumptions there, buddy. Firstly, you're assuming that Google navigation is going to be released for iPhone in the near future. Second, you're assuming that it will function ideally on the iPhone. Third, you're assuming that it's a better application than Navigon and TomTom. For some people, $100 for Navigon, for example, is worth it for being able to get an application that works NOW with locally stored maps and live traffic than to wait for those three assumptions of yours to come true at some point in the future.

All in all, I hate seeing consumers empower these companies by paying these ludicrous prices they charge. Tomtom selling their app, and car kit for a combined price of $220 is an abomination. Navigon seems to have a good product, but with googles announcement, it magnifies their asking price. My advice is to wait and force these companies to charge less. Thank yo for your time, and have a great day.

@Dyvim

If you need a GPS device now, why not either go the cheapest route on the iPhone, or buy a cheap standalone device? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money, but $100 is a lot of dough to blow on an app, when a free GPS app is coming, with all the bells and whistles. Not to mention, when this does happen, Navigon and Tomtom will have no choice but to slash their prices, and everyone wins in the end. Like I said earlier, patience is a virtue.

I had to drive to a friend's house and didn't realize that I would be completely leaving AT&T's coverage area. I used Google Maps to get there but once I crossed into the massive dead zone, I had no idea where I was and couldn't call to get directions when the maps died. That was before I got Navigon and now I don't need to worry about loss of signal when I travel. Is Navigon perfect? No, but they continue to improve it. I'm not sure if I'll be getting the traffic add-on, haven't decided yet. I'm not in a huge metro area so I'm a little doubtful about the number of users around here that would be contributing to the live data. It would be useful when driving in other areas but not so much near home.

@TATom1981: Please tell us how you really feel! While I hope that Google Nav comes to the iPhone and sooner rather than later, my wife and I need turn-by-turn nav help on our iPhones now, not at some unspecified future date. Budget-minded users have the option of MotionX Drive ($3) or CoPilot ($35). But Navigon seems to have gained a general consensus as being the best overall iPhone nav app available today, so for those with the money (esp. those with multiple iPhones which increases its value proposition compared to stand-alone GPS units) Navigon is a reasonable option. Also, some people will prefer to have their Maps stored on the device and not rely on a data connection (which will be a weakness of Google Nav as it is of AT&T Navigator and Google Maps).

Is it just me, or does it seem like the in-app purchase is going to bring a new level of nickle and dime nonsense to apps too?
It seems almost arrogant to charge $90 for an app and then ask for another $25 to complete the package. Why not just charge $100 flat and include all functionality?

Used to think this app was da bomb till i discovered MotionX GPS Drive. Good price point - can pay-as-I-go so when something better comes out, I wont feel the need to keep using. PLUS, it's the only app that located a distant location whereas Navigon iphone app, Garmin standalone gps and BMW in-car navi ALL FAILED TO LOCATE.

I'll pass on this....not investigating $20 more into this poorly designed app....

Anyone that purchases a $100 GPS app from the app store, after hearing about googles free GPS software is a moron, and deserves to lose their money. Ladies and gentlemen, it's game over. Google GPS will be on the iPhone soon enough. Don't buy into the propaganda of google being mad at apple, thus holding their software back. Google will makes tons of dough through advertising, when it's available on the iPhone. Patience is a virtue.

@17: $110 for Nav app w/traffic for 5 devices = $22/device. That's an excellent value if you all use it. I already figured that $90/2 iPhones= $45/device was a pretty good deal (traffic an extra $10/device). So you had no trouble activating the traffic on the 2nd-5th devices without having to re-pay?

Had the Navigon stand alone GPS and now use the iPhone app. It works great. Sometimes has problems with quickest route in neighborhoods, but graphics and functionality rock. Bought traffic add-in and look forward to using it. A value for $20 because I can use it on all my family (5) iPhones.

@13- Thanks
BTW, for those who don't know, you can make the app smaller by removing unwanted maps and language/voice resources. I made a version with just my state, English, and Portuguese that weighs in around 182 MB. Just rename the .ipa file to .zip then open it with WinZip (or app of your choice) and delete the unneeded files. Delete the app from iTunes (keep the file) and drag the modified .ipa back in. Map files are .MAP and the language and voice files are .NFS and .SAR. Make sure you keep a backup and proceed at your own risk! Jailbreak not necessary. Removing unwanted maps makes the biggest difference, but cutting out the unwanted languages freed up about 140 MB.

I have g-maps which is a very good price for a navigation apps. It wasn't very good at first but they keep doing updates and I really like it now. I never see reviews on iPhone sites, maybe someone should do one.

I upgraded and bought it immediately. In app purchase and it asked for my iTunes password so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be restored if I needed it. Since it uses iTunes, I don't see why it wouldn't work across multiple devices with the same iTunes account.

What happens to your in-App purchase if you restore (and choose to start fresh instead of recover from a backup)? Also, what happens if you have 2 iPhones linked to the same iTunes account? Both can use the 1 copy of Navigon, but what about the traffic?
