Sky Mobile TV News and Sports for iPhone Launches in UK App Store

Sky Mobile TV News and Sports for iPhone

Sky Mobile TV News and Sports [Free + £6 a month subscription - iTunes link] for iPhone and iPod touch is now available in the UK App Store, and is Wi-Fi only at the moment (so AT&T isn’t the only one unhappy with TV over 3G, eh?)

The app itself is free, though the programming will set you back £6 a month — unless you’re an O2 customer, in which case they’ll foot the bill for your first three months. Nothing like a competitive market, is there?

If you live in the UK and want all the news, football (soccer to you North Americans), golf, and cricket you can shake an iPhone at, and you check out the app, let us know what you think.

If you live in the US, how would the idea of CNN/ESPN or FoxNews/Sports apps grab you?

This app is very impressive. Love it! Over 3G would be nice, but Wifi will do for now. The video quality is excellent. Hoping they expand on this and make the sky player app. That would rock, hard :-)

  2. delboy says:

This works fine on 3g with a jailbroken iphone using a app called 3g unrestricter the quality is the same, amazing

  3. Dalekkiller says:

It’s working well for me and the 3 months free bonus from O2 is great. I’m not totally sure but I think it works out cheaper than adding Sky Sports to my tv subscription. If they can get it to work over 3G it’ll be one of my killer apps.

  4. dc says:

UK only? No love for the expats across the pond?

  5. Mist1 says:

Xmas comes early this year. O2 is unlocking my iPhone for free, gives me 3 months Sky Sports for free and I just got a chocolate bar from them – just because… Competition, bring it on (if the rates don’t change at least these will cheer me up). If they expand their 3G network, I’ll think twice switching to Voda when they get the iPhone in Jan.:).

  6. Pazza says:

Is it possible to stream this straight from an iphone 3G onto your tv through the av adapter?

  7. Ben says:

Great over jailbroken phone on 3g. Great quality. Also try iPhone.catchuptv.com for live tv over 3g in the uk.

  8. Steve says:

can I use it outside the UK?

  9. JoNo says:

Is there anyway for an American to secure this app?!

I WANT IT SOOOO BAD!! I’m willing to cough up the dough for it if only they’d let me!

  10. Craig Symons says:

This app is brilliant you get 7 premium sport channels including ESPN and the picture quality is almost HD in nature. Had no problems at all with the stream…just waiting for the app which will let me use it on 3G.
