It's just electronics, guys. Let's not try to make it seem more important than it is.

Anyway, there are certainly enough faults with Apples products to knock Jobs down from the God status this clown is trying to elevate him to.

I think Michael Arrington has progressed way beyond fanboyism and gone direct to cult-worship.

I makes me wonder what he will write on Christmas eve.

Too much koolaid.

@Anony

I criticize Apple as much (if not more) than anybody around here, but Apple deserves every last drop of credit they get for shaking up the mobile phone landscape. Yes, much of what the original iPhone offered had been done before, but, as Rene points out, they deserve some kudos for their particular assembly, and getting it into the hands of customers on a large scale.

More importantly, Apple deserves credit for standing firm in the face of intense carrier pressure, even as it cost them a potentially lucrative deal with their first choice, Verizon. Not many companies would have (or could have) stood firm in the face of that pressure, and the success of the iPhone and the App Store model has irrevocably titled the smartphone market towards devices and away from strict carrier control. That has been good for all of us.

Yes, as long as certain brain-dead Apple policies are in place, I think other phones and app markets are better designed to take this model to the next level, but it would be silly not to give credit where credit is due for getting the whole ball rolling -- and that credit goes to Apple.

I am thankful to steve and all of his employees! Without them I would not have reconnected with so many of my old freinds that I have lost contact with over the years. So, thank you Steve. And a special Thank you to Apple employees for putting up with him.

Oh yeah, here is the love of Apple creating everything even though it was already done before. Pandora, Skype? Yeah, it's been done before Apple got to it. -_-'
