Twitter Eats Own "Dogfood", Previews New Mobile WebApp for iPhone
Twitter is previewing a new iPhone-friendlier version of their website, mobile.twitter.com, this time "eating their own dogfood" by using the same APIs they provide to developers. While Twitter has long had their m.twitter.com mobile site it's fair to say it was eclipsed by native iPhone apps making use of those APIs.
Will the new WebApp get users to go back to the online source? Personally, the power and performance of the latest App Store apps is going to be tough to beat, but if I'm ever stuck using someone else's iPhone (or non-iPhone mobile device, like I will be this weekend), a better web-based alternative will certainly be much appreciated. It's optimized for mobile WebKit based browsers like the iPhone right now, but they'll be tweaking it for the good of all platforms eventually. If you give mobile.twitter.com a try, let us know how you like it.

Hey, this is kinda amazing news, as the basic layout for its current mobile feature is just horrible, in my honest opinion.
Glad to hear there's some more work being put into the mobile version, and like you said, would be perfect for those using someones else iPhone!
Hope the upgraded version has all the full features as the 'desktop' version does, cause I usually gotta add people or edit certain things from my iPhone... Great feature post though, keep 'em coming, and thanks!
Love the new mobile.twitter.com, I might stop using twitter apps. It is clean, simple and fast.
Really I too liked the new twitter for iPhone. Now a days twitter is part of our daily life and thus portability for twitter is really necessary..
I can't view my own profile when I'm logged in because it's protected. Go figure.
I like it better than the original m.twitter.com
I must say, it is well done. My two tweets, since 2008, are easier to read now.

you'll be using it a lot more than that.
any twitter link you click in email, im, txt, reader app, or website in safari is not going to open in your app of choice. it's going to open in safari, and currently opens in one of the worst interfaces imaginable.
this is a huge improvement then most of use will see on a regular basis, even if we do use a standalone twitter client.
No Push from a webapp though...
I just found a feature in Echofon, where if you install the "post this link in Echofon" bookmarklet, go to a person's timeline on Twitter.com (example/shameless plug: Twitter.com/oboewan) and open the bookmarklet, it opens that person's timeline up in Echofon. I just tested it and it works on mobile.Twitter.com too.
Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason appeared to be on the net the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they just do not know about.
