Digital Daily Says Apple Media Event Now Set for Wednesday, Jan. 27

It's not the previously rumored Tuesday, Jan. 26, but Digital Daily is claming a "source in a position to know" has told them:
Apple (AAPL) is indeed planning a media event later this month at which the company will announce a major new product.
Steve Jobs has "dented the universe" previously with the Apple II, Mac, iPod and iTunes, Pixar, and again with the iPhone. He's reportedly been working on a new product, often referred to as "the tablet" (or iTablet) with special focus for the last while. Given how tightly integrated Apple is as a company, where Mac development enhances iPhone enriches iPod touch amps up Apple TV goes right back into the Mac, whether or not this new product is an iPhone, and iPhone HD, a new iPod, or the much-rumored iTablet, the services and technologies it brings with it will no doubt be reflected in iPhone 4.0 and whatever 4th generation iPhone comes later.
That's why TiPb is following these stories with such interest. iTunes LP and iTunes Extras is a side note until it's the foundation for new media on an iTablet and iPhone. The iTablet OS X is a tangent until iPhone HD uses its pixels to much the same effect.
And that's why we'll do our best to cover it for you up to Jan. 27, on that day, and thereafter. (Unless it's only iLife '10, in which case we'll blog it and move on...
)
Meanwhile, let us know what you think Apple will be announcing, and what you want them to announce, if different.

I think it'll be a tablet of some sort. There are too many rumors to not hold any water.
I'm still good with my iPhone 3GS. I don't even use my laptop anymore. A good jailbreaked 3GS iPhone it's almost good as an itablet aka Netbook
I think Apple will unveil something bigger than the iPhone or the ever-rumored mostly unnecessary iTablet. Apple has revolutionized music with iTunes and iPod/iPhone. I think they are poised to bring iTunes content to a cable or satellite TV provider. This may be without a device or with a new cable box/ Apple TV combination unit. They are ready to completely change the way television is enjoyed exactly the same way they did with music.
The more talk I hear about the itablet.. the less I think its needed.. I just want to hear about iphone 4.0... and I hope they bring some of that info to the surface.
@D.allen. I totally agree with you. tired of reading these rumors. all I care about is my iPhone. make it better. bring on 4.0
if it turns out to be iLife 10 or something similar to the presentation at the last macworld.... fanboy heads all over will implode.
What about a television streaming/iTunes integrated Apple TV game-console?
I think artists will love a tablet. Being able to touch the screen and paint at the same time is very appealing. Just wish it could be pressure sensitive.
As much as I would love for them to intro the tablet, these are much more likely: iLife and iWork 10. iTunes tv subscriptions. iPhone os 4.0. Updated MacBook pro and mac pro. A new apple tv that really utilizes the subscription service. Possibly an updated iPod touch with camera.
But that "one more thing" would practically make me wet my pants with joy. If it's the tablet.
I strongly believe Apple is positioned to release a subscription base/live TV service. It's got friends in all the right places, and has a staggering iPhone base, all people who would love to watch the TV episodes and movies they've purchased/rented on their TV's, and don't want to have Apple TV by itself. An integrated system, similar to what other companies are rolling out this week at CES.
An itablet may be unnecessary for some but for others will fill a critical spot. I never get on my laptop anymore, I use my 3GS for almost everything. I don't get on the laptop because it is cumbersome, takes time to turn on, log on, access what I want to access. An itablet that is like an oversized iPhone would provide the speedy freedom I would be looking for to be able to glance at news, type something up really quick and move on. I hope it is announced on the 27th.
I was searching for digital photography when I found your site. Good post. Thank You.
Releasing of the new macbook pro or will that be in June?
The new Macbook will come in June I'm guessing.
