Please wake me when this is over. I heard that this effort is a one off because the folks at Google were not happy with their channel partners use of Android and felt that they did not live up to what the Google’s vision for Android was. This was their way of showing what an Android phone could be and would not likely see a follow up model. If true, this is a lot of attention over a one off solution. Also, why should someone buy one if their next handset will be from someone else?
Can’t wait to hear the announcments. I want an unlock android next to my iPhone 3g
Nexus One will available on Verizon… say goodbye to the iPhone on Verizon.
How many Apple patents can we see in the Nexus One?
Why no iPhone on Verizon? Verizon is already offering a 2 for 1 deal on Droids. If it were selling that well then why offer this type of incentive? Verizon is crying out for an iPhone and in truth if Apple were going to double their iPhone sales in the US Verizon is the only carrier that they can work with. Keep in mind that Apple has worked with Microsoft in the past so no ill words or ads overcomes the only language that truly drives Apple – green. And when the day comes that Apple announces a deal with Verizon look for Steve Jobs to offer up some choice wisdom for their new partner beyond we offered this to them first and they passed.
@The Reptile – Apple makes fun of Microsoft daily. They make nice when it suits them.
Last time I saw Apple stock was at it’s highest ever and they sell the iPhone worldwide. Verizon sales would pale in comparison. There’s more $ to be had than just phones. I think it’s a matter of principle and/or pride. Verizon had it’s chance. Apple wouldn’t jump into bed right away with a partner of its new rival, Google. To my knowledge AT&T sells no Android devices. That’s probably no accident. I think Verizon and AT&T are positioning themselves for Droid vs. Apple respectively. Personally I’d like to unload some iPhoners off AT&T onto Verizon.
@Angel ten thousand billion?
… Trackballs suck… google phone is alright… dig the OLED screen… but my iphone is still an iPod and a phone and still keeps me connected to my Music and movies and surfs the web awesome… and game apps rule…
I, for one, am happy Nexus One is on VZW. The more people we can get go to VZW (and not buy an AT&T iPhone), the better our network will be!
@Jtz5 I’m with you on this. Maybe some people will peel off & improve the network & maybe even cause AT&T to spend some money on there network. But seriously, the Nexus One is lame, for being the next iPhone killer. I mean it has some cool features but 512mb of memory? That’s like a couple of game apps on iPhone.
Too bad you can’t go to a store and try it out since it’s only sold online. Not sure how fast tmobiles 3g service is, but their edge is useless.
@google this will be your what 5th-6th phone now? Dam it all is it that hard to beat one phone thats been the same hardware design for 3 years?it’s like been 30 phones that have came out to kill the iPhone and still iPhone is king. Sick I say give it up and get into the coffee maker/toaster/web browser all in one.
I like how everyone is getting up and arms and calling this an iPhone killer…and then saying it fails at it.
Yet NOBODY has called this an iPhone killer. This is more so for Android itself, not any competition. I’d say The Reptile’s first comment is closest to it. This is to kick some ass into gear because some OHA members are slacking off at the helm. This is basically to say:
“Look, this is an Android phone. This is what it can do. Get to it…or we will. Plain and simple”
Which is what the Nexus One said. Because only SE has made a phone that compares…and that will be delayed til the end of the earth most likely.
@iamiphone3gs
this was specifically for you…because I don’t see these manufacturers making these phones to beat the iPhone (or any other for that matter). Android is first and foremost, a way to get more Google out there. Google could care less about beating the iPhone…the iPhone is IN Google’s strategy. LOL.
All I know is from now on, I will only buy a phone that is including the Googster in it’s design plans. They know how to make Android purr.
P.S. The app limit will be a moot point soon enough. It was said Apps2SD will be coming. And that to me is a better solution than on board storage. Seeing as the SD cards rise, so will your onboard. Whereas anyone with an iPhone is stuck with one size until the newest one comes out with all new features. If you notice…differences between Android hardware…is well…simply software. So an update will fix that (unless you’re with Rogers…then tough titty, lol).
Are you interested in the hottest new phone this side of the iPhone? Google just released the Nexus One, which is one of the most talked about smartphones of 2010. Get the latest news, reviews and more at NexusOneFan. http://www.nexusonefan.com.
I like the phone but I think that phones today are overated. Just get the one that works best for you.
I want some Android phones to come to At&t already Im not switching carriers. Where im at At&t is sold like like like a solid gold bar.
But really service in washington state is good.
@idavey You couldn’t be more wrong. Google got into this game to compete with apple, Microsoft, palm and nokia.

Your joking right??? There making These phones to compete in the market and yes they all go after apple. It all started with the samsung instinct. Your right though all these commercials are aimed at the iPhone but there not trying to beat the iPhone!!!! Come on
Pay attention! Nexus two has to get rid of the cheese BB trackball Ok! It doesn’t last at all, it is an 80′s arcade tech. That’s the main tech issue.
