Think this GigaOm visual representation of the iPhone and iPod touch App Store Economy is massive? Check out that economy itself. (And we're guessing there are far more devices on the market now, given how 50 million was nearly 2 quarters ago).

BGR: No iPhone OS Updates Recently Because it Would Reveal Tablet Info?
  1. The Reptile says:

    Average wait for approval is 4.78 days? Considering the number of apps coming at them and what the payoff is once approved there's not much for developers to grip about. True, there are odd cases here and there but overall this ecosystem is pretty impressive.

  2. CharFeld says:

    I can't help but think of the many developers who are always complaining that they can't charge more for their apps because of competitive pressure. But this article highlights the benefits of the low pricing - people download more apps. Does anyone think that the app store would have been nearly as successful if apps were priced at PC software prices, or even in the $10-$30 range that I used to pay for palm os software?

    Rene-

    I have asked this question a few times before on different threads, but thought I would ask it here again...

    Do you know of any decent iPhone print apps that don't require software to be installed on my desktop (and for that desktop to always be on)? I have the HP iPrint app and it prints photos well, but I don't understand why HP won't add other print functions like email, webpages, etc.

    Thanks.

    @jtz5 Not off hand, no.

    I'd have to entirely agree with Reptile on this one.

  6. pxlshooter says:

    Good for them. Long live capitolism! Clearly they make a product that people desire.

  7. dev says:

    Yeah! How dare those developers grip(e)! After all, if an Apple roadblock costs you time and money, you can always just say "so what if I lost capital -- the median developer has no problems at all." </sarcasm>

  8. anon says:

    ** 90% of the revenue goes to the top 400 apps.

  9. duke says:

    this is why the app store keeps growing, developing for apple pretty much guarantees you wont have to worry about paying the bills lol
