4th Generation iPhone Code Named N89; iPod touch G4, N80
Enagdget tipsters, digging deep into the iPad's iPhone 3.2 SDK and iPhone 3.1.3 firmware, have found more evidence of the 4th generation iPhone (likely to ship this June/July) namely it's code name -- N89.
Buried way inside the platform simulator lies a set of folders dedicated to specific models of iPhone OS-ready devices, including the iPhone 3GS, second generation iPod touch, something called the "K48" (yep, the codename we were told was the internal name for the iPad), and... the "N89." Sure, it sounds like a Nokia phone just waiting to happen, but this is -- according to our extremely knowledgeable and trusted sources -- likely the codename of the next iPhone (previous versions were called the M68, N82, and N88).
There's also news on the 4th generation iPod touch as well (likely to ship this September):
Apple's just released firmware (3.1.3) also includes another new model, the "N80," which we're told will most likely be the next version of the iPod touch.
Sure, they're little details for now, but there's always more to come... it's really only a matter of time.

First... Awesome!
I can't wait to see gen 4 details. I'm still running the Gen 1 iPhone. This is my year to upgrade
These little 4G sightings are boring me to sleep. Wake me up in June.
I'm very excited to see it but as I'm running a 3GS I probably should wait 'til next year
. Should...
apple most likely named the file updates as a slight on Nokia, as they are embroiled in a nasty patent dispute.
@Xeagus The 2-year contract subsidy makes it easy to get a new iPhone every two years. For the inbetween years? Those are the years to upgrade your iPad. That way you get something new and shiny every year!
I'll upgrade my 3g to whatever the next one has. Hopefully it's twice faster then the 3gs, front facing camera. All that good stuff
Been rolling the 3g for a while now. iPhone 4g is what I need not an iPad
I ditto these other guys. I'm still rocking my 3g with pride, and that's after a couple of lcd and digitizer replacements. I'm saving that all important upgrade for the 4th gen model later this year.
Hmmm...yummy.
Yawns
os 4.0 better be excellent
Whatever it Is I'm buying it. My 3G Is getting a little slow and I'm outta space. Hope it's great tho.
Maybe it's an iPal... to fill the gap between the iPad and the iPhone.
More like an "iGottaBuyThisBecauseIt'sApple"
I probably won't get it if it doesn't hav. Anything significantly different. The 3GS has everything except for a perfect OS ...
Front facing camera is something they won't add 90% of the time due to quality. If they can't get YouTube videos a tad clearer on 3G , they don't have a front facing camera.
What else.
Faster ? They already did that.
They Have to wow both current and perspective users.
If there are major changes I'll be upgrading immediately. I got my 3GS during launch week. I dunno where u are all from but here in CA AT&T makes u elgible for a new upgrade after the first year of ur contract if u renew...
GO APPLE.!
I just got my 3gs about a mont ago and I got it for a sweet sweet price from att(149$, 32gb) i had no choice but to upgrade from my 3g which I still have. However if the 4g is all that I will sell them both to buy it. But i doubt rhat they can truly truly do anything that a jb cant do.
Im not knocking the idea of a front facing camera but, who would really use it?
(lol)
When u update to 3.1.3 look at the battery percentage remember it, then reset ur iPhone and when it turns back on look at the 1st intial lockscreen the battery percentage will be 8% lower then after a sec it will jump back 8 % to wut it should really be… Very very strange I thought apple was supposed to fix the issue not make it worse…. DO NOT UPGRADE PLEASE STICK WITH 3.1.2 FAR LESS BUGGY….
I AM LOOSING FAITH IN APPLE UR GETTING WORSE EVERYDAY, UR NOT IMPROVING THE IPHONE UI AT ALL.. UNLIKE ALL UR COMPETITION…. STEP UP APPLE AND BE A MAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
你们好!
My iPhone 3G is in a really bad shape :S, I really want to get a 3GS, but I think that I should wait for the new phone.
I went to ATT twice to get the 3GS but the minute I walk in I change my mind. I don't know if I should wait or get a 3GS now. It's faster and has a compass :S
hahahaha #22 said "hello!" in Chinese
你好晨!!我希望苹果出来新的东西很快!我讨厌等待,我希望有一个音乐播放器快...但钱是一个问题,我希望他们降低价格或经过降价
Oh crap "PLAYA" is LOOSING FAITH...
I'm currently using a 1st Gen 16GB Ipod Touch. I was soooooooooo hoping the 4th Gen version would have been out by now. To hear that it may come out in September just makes me want to scream. I hope that when it does come out it will have the following: 128GB max memory (I'll prob get the 64GB version), 802.11n wi-fi, video camera, internal FM radio & a much better browser with flash (even though the last part is prob wishful dreaming on my part).
and it will soon be released with lot more from Apple on Sep 1.
