  1. Dennis says:

I played this game quite a bit on the PC, and the iPhone version looks virtually identical based on just the posted trailer. For those who are curious and want to try it out, there’s a demo for the PC version.

  2. iPhone Libya says:

    Downloading …… Now ….

  3. fassy says:

Loved this game on my PC. Did not re-buy it for my Mac, but for the iPhone, I just might. A couple of questions for those who already have it:

    • Does it have everything the PC/Mac version had — all the levels and variants?

    • Some of the later levels get very crowded — does a 3G handle that ok, or does it really require a 3GS?

  4. Rjak says:

The reason no one is commenting is because they can’t stop playing.

    It’s THAT good.

    Seriously.

  5. Dennis says:

Okay, I checked it out in the App Store, saw that it was only $3, and bought it. I thought I’d post my brief opinion for those who might be familiar with the PC version.

From what I can tell, it’s exactly the same game as on the PC. However, I’ve only gone through the first several levels and haven’t unlocked Crazy Dave’s shop. After playing the PC game on a 24″ 1920×1200 monitor, the iPhone version looks extremely sharp, in part because the screen is much smaller. The initial load time is a little long on the 3G, maybe twice as long as on my PC, but the game itself plays just fine. It’s unusually well adapted to the multitouch screen — catching suns and selecting and placing plants using either one or two fingers is very intuitive. Higher levels are going to get very hectic, and it will probably be difficult to play for very long durations due to hand fatigue.

This is a great port of a great, fun game. Certain elements of the game design of the original, such as the fact that all the action happens on one screen with no scrolling and simple select and click gameplay, means that the transition to the iPhone is apparently 1:1. Neither of those elements are true of World of Goo, for instance.

Basically, this is another great Pop Cap game for the iPhone. I’ve definitely spent as much or more for games that were not as good.

  6. Dannyrodri says:

I’m absolutely loving this game. I’m not far up in levels but in one with many things going on it seems to lag a bit on my 3G. I heard of this game on twitter then went on and played the online version for like 10 mins and I was sold. Buy it, lots of hours of fun included.

  7. P2hero says:

This is a very nice game !!!!!!!

  8. Muero says:

Okay, so I played through Adventure mode and beat it (as a veteran of the desktop PvZ, it wasn’t terribly difficult). But even now I’ve never seen Mini-Games, Survival Mode, Puzzle Mode, or the Zen Garden, all of which I had access to on the desktop version. Am I missing something or are all these game modes not included on the iPhone PvZ?

  9. Muero says:

So after some quick searching on the Internet, I’ve found out that, in fact, Survival Mode, Puzzle Mode, Mini-Games, and the Zen Garden ARE NOT in the iPhone Plants vs. Zombies. So this article is a lie.

  10. zayra says:

ok so i didnt know about this game until yesterday that i downloaded it to my iphone…and i love it…so far i’ve had like 4 mini games…one was bowling that i loved!

    i can’t stop playing….loves it

  11. Dennis says:

@ Muero: I started wondering if those things were left out, but since I haven’t reached the first unlock, I couldn’t be sure. Zen Garden wouldn’t really have worked well on the iPhone, but the lack of Survival Mode and Puzzle Mode is a bit of a bummer. Sorry if I misled anyone into thinking that they would be there.

  12. Patrick says:

actually, i was also looking for the puzzle and survival, so i did a lot of search in the net too.. but too bad to find out that there is no survival and puzzle.. it’s a bit disappointing, because i don’t want to play adventure mode over and over again.. i want survival.. and also, survival is the most challenging part.. i know they can add it to future updates, because almost all of td games are endless mode so they can also do it..

  13. Dev says:

Bummer…I love PvZ, but puzzle mode was going to be my top mobile distraction

  14. Eric says:

I feel cheated out of the greatness of the origional game. Without the puzzle and other modes this game gets about 3 stars out of 5.

  15. hero666 says:

so wait there is survival in the ipod touch/iphone version?

  16. SteveB69 says:

Iphone version is a quite good. However, without the zen garden it makes it very hard to make enough moola to afford the upgrades, that sucks.

  17. Monica says:

If there’s no zen garden, then why is one of the achievements – the morticulturalist – to collect all 49 plants? It doesn’t make sense!

  18. Per says:

@Monica I think they mean to collect in terms of having them available to play with. So get the 45 or so ones from completing levels and buy the rest from crazy Dave.

  19. Mica says:

@Per’s reply to @Monica…. I finished the game twice and bough EVERYTHING from dave’s shop but i still he still isn’t selling plants and it’s the only thing i can’t achieve in the game.

  20. BOB says:

Ok no zen garden, no puzzle, survival is there, but only on the first level so this is 3/5

  21. Ickblorch says:

I would not recommend this app, because the mini-games are the best part, in my opinion. CHOOSE WISELY

  22. ufc 103 says:

Actually considering that their feud in UFC 107 in December, there have been numerous occasions, wherever it was believed that Evans and Jackson might collide alongside a single an additional. Nonetheless, Jackson announced a retirement, which did not last for extended, but fit the match on maintain. Now, with the star announcing a return, quite significantly recently, the feud has been reignited. Each of them will get an possibility to settle their distinctions as soon as and for all when they go head-to-head against 1 a different in UFC 114 on Might 29.

  23. R1 says:

Once you finish the “Adventure”, it unlocks the quick play mode. One of the options under “Quick Play” is “Bonus Games”. It contains “bowling”, “whack-a-zombie”, and a lot more….

  24. L3L3L3L3L3 says:

PvZ is awesome, I have beaten the adventure mode twice so far. Try making new some achievements, Try using only 2 or 3 items!(Not the easy/expensive ones either like using only Sunflowers, Lily Pads and Cattails) I can beat any ground level with Sunflowers and Snow Pea’s; Sunflowers, Squash and Potato Mines, but had to use cloned Potato Mines; Post your hardest combo!

  25. Ev says:

They should add a plant called “birdbath” that lets you plant a water plant on ground. If you plant a lily pad on a birdbath, it creates a “petalstal” (pedestal) that allows a ground plant to hit an airborne zombie or shoot over the slope of a roof. When a cattail is planted on a petalstal, it creates a weed killer, which shoots a constant stream of cactus spikes at zombies in any lane.

  26. ab says:

how do you get the zen garden

  27. Spencer says:

I got this game and I was addicted but I beat it and the mini games don’t satisfie for long, also I got every plants even from crazy Dave shop but I need 1 more, what’s up with that

  28. Peter says:

I really wanted to play zen garden, but it is not on the iPod touch.

  29. DressyChubbaz says:

I have played this game quite alot on xbox 360, pc and even iPod touch and I wish they would update the iPod version and give us the zen garden because I’ve seen people make easy money on the game just by people having the zen garden, I want to know why I can’t get the zen garden on the iPod version in my opinion I think that it could make the iPod version better.

  30. Annü X says:

Hello there, in the iPod Version you cant play the ZenGarden and you havent so much Minigames like in the PC Version. If everyone knows, if i can get the Zen Garten on my iPod, please write back.

    And now, have fun, Annü

  31. garyrx2 says:

if there is no zen garden then what is the point of the game. Also you have to get the imatator because i believe it counts as a plant.

  32. Hello, says:

Hey ive found this neat glitch I on my Iphone. It’s the Imitater, when you click on it you’ll have options to pick on other seeds. You first scroll down all the way then you keep scrolling down till all you see is the 4 slots (onion, umbrellaleaf, coinflower,& the watermelon). You hold it up there & then you get ready to press the black space where there is nothing there. You let go & quickly press the black space & you should get something random from CrazyDaves Car. This glitch does work it just takes some time to get it right.

  33. poopsta says:

how do i get survival mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. TWK says:

Sunflowers, Chompers, and walnuts it’s really hard

  35. garrett says:

i bought this app for my iPod touch and there are zero problems with it being too slow and you get nearly everything as in the PC version; The Zen Garden and more mini-games were apparantly added in an update, but i haven’t had a chance to do my update yet so don’t know how it compares.

I love this game so worth the money.

  36. Pietro says:

Where is the survival function on the iPhone version?

  37. SParkie says:

With the zen garden, do marigolds and other plants do anything when fully grown? Or are try just for selling

    • Winterstorm11 says:

SParkie, You can sell them if your want to. The purpose however is that after they are fully grown, you can make them “happy” once a day by giving the plant what it needs. What happens when it is happy is that every minute or so the plant will drop a coin or rarely, a diamond. If you buy stinky the snail from crazy dave, it will collect money for you while your are away. If you do choose to sell them though fungi and aquatic plants fully grown are sold for 10,000 and regular plants are 8,000 but marigolds are 3,000

    • Antaria-Lee says:

Id. There fully grown they give money but i always buy all THE plants for more money ^^

  38. Ashleyvuong321 says:

how come i dont have the survival mode for my ipad? i already did adventure mode and i unlocked the mini games but i dont have survival mode

  39. Stephnessri says:

Hey, when does the zen garden mode unlock? it just keeps saying that I need to play more adventure mode

  40. Cjoda1998 says:

hi i need help getting zen garden plants cuz i dont know how or i never get them and i beat the game also i have ipod touch

    • Guest says:

The plants dont come too often. I only got 5 plants through the game. Others, you have to purchase them at crazy dave’s shop. The marigolds are 2500 each, and the unidentified plant is 7500 each.

    • KMichilot says:

You can keep playing the Whack a zombie on Quick play. Be sure to ALWAYS use the gravebusters for greater chances of earning plants

  41. Junpogi_tm21 says:

How do we get the survival mode?

  42. Junpogi_tm21 says:

It says on top clearly..theres a survival mode :(

  43. kdai785 says:

why dont i get survival mode on my iphone after i played through adventure mode?

  44. Dominic41 says:

they should add survival mode into the iphone soon cuz i payed for this app and now im tired of betting the story mode over and over and i have all the achievements except for two so hurry up please

  45. Keescooldaalder says:

I don’t have got puzzles :( On my iPod touch

  46. Watkinns7 says:

i love this game but i want to get it for free!!!

  47. Bigbad_79 says:

I don’t have survival mode but my friend has endless vase breaker and I zombieis on his windows phone. What is up with that?

  48. Matthewgarnier1988 says:

Damn. I bought Plants VS. Zombies for the PC a year ago. Loved it. It was So Addictive and kept me occupied all winter… Once I Beat the game I became more focused on the Zen Garden And Endless Mode… I recently moved from home without my computer or Plants VS. Zombies :( … But too my amazement I was able to purchase the iPod APP for 2.99$ It was worth it… or so I thought. First off after beating it once unlocking the zen garden and buying out most of the items in Crazy Dave’s Shop: I was asked to download a new update, Sooo… I did. After waiting for 2 hours it was complete, but i could not access the game anymore. i had to remove the app completely and start over from scratch. I was PISSED. And I am even MORE PISSED to find out there is NO SURVIVAL MODE AT ALL!!! I AM REALLY FRICKIN DISSAPPOINTED… POP CAP HAS LOST A GOOD CUSTOMER!!!
