Having trouble with push notifications on iPad? Tell us which app!
We're getting a lot of reports from people who say they aren't getting push notifications for their iPad apps, and we're having similar problems ourselves. From productivity to games, there doesn't seem to be a pattern yet other than "not-working".
Are you having problems with push notifications on your iPad? If so, tell us which apps aren't working for you. And if you are getting notifications, tell us about that as well.

Words with Friends HD isn't even in my notifications menu. Lame!!
Same words HD isn't pushing. Fb is also pushing wrong badge numbers for items.

I've been having problems with notifications all day, but on my iPhone.
The most annoying so far has been Boxcar, which has been working perfectly until today. I was just minding my own business when it suddenly in about 2 minutes dumped a week's worth of notifications on me (about 70 notifications in total, all of them dupes of ones I had already seen.) New notifications have been arriving approximately 1 to 2 hours late, some one more time after another hour.
So yeah, you could pretty much say that I'm having problems

And it's not just me: some of my friends have been having the same problems with their iPhones (and Boxcar).
Wouldn't the wifi-only iPad have the same Push limitations as the iPod touch, i.e. when it's in sleep mode, the wifi shuts off and you won't be able to get push notifications? The 3G version should not have this issue though.
IM+ is not working for me, waste of $10 ATM, so much for switching from beejive.
On the other hand, GPush works like a charm and is fine as iPhone version since I only want the push popups.
Scrabble
Like HZC said, the wifi-only iPad doesn't have a continuous data connection as wifi turns off when it is put to sleep. 3G data connections on the other hand are maintained as long as the device has some power as the 3G radio is not constantly broadcasting when idle and only has to 'listen' for signals and periodically check back with the cell tower.
Of course with half a million iPad's suddenly being booted up and tested, Apple's notification servers are probably being hammered, although I have received notifications on my iPhone this weekend withouth any apparent issues.
That would be true if the screen was off. I have mine open and IM+ running in the background but if someone leaves a Message I never get the pop up even if I'm just in another app or sitting at the Icon page. So there is something going on.
I'm not worried about it. It will be fixed. If people don't want bugs they shouldn't be early adopters.
Facebook? Does anyone really pay attention to Facebook pushes and their accuracy? There's plenty of work to be done there.
I had the same boxcar issue on the iPhone noted by PZ - dumped a weeks worth of messages to my phone.
GodFinger pushed one notification to my iPad while I was in a different app, but when I was not playing I got no new notifications. I am sure we will see a fix shortly.
I've had the same issues with Words HD and also AIM for iPad. AIM works, but my badges never clear when the chat is over?
I'm not getting notification of new wireless networks. (Yes it's turned on in settings). I have to manually go in each time and switch to the new network. Irratating
The notifications are showing up perfectly fine but I'm having trouble with the badges not clearing on AIM for iPad. It's still telling me I have messages when I don't and even ending and clearing the conversation doesn't make them go away. I'm thinking it's more of an issue with the app itself
I have the same problem with the AIM iPad app badges not clearing. Even when I delete all conversations, it'll always show a badge of at least 1.
Pretty much all Apps, this is not my first Rodeo either, I had a 3Gs, and a 3G. and I know how to make sure Push is turned on.
Godfinger, We Rule.. everything not sending push out.
No push notifications with Word with Friends. Also problems loading Netflix and Weather Channel. Sometimes reinstallation works, but in the case of Weather Channel, I just deleted it for now after several attempts.
No badges for scrabble although turned on.
Knocking and email. Yes all the settings are how they're supposed to be.
As a developer, push notifications failure, delays, inaccuracies ... etc. are not necessarily a problem of the device, but a problem in the application.
For example, my application send pushes when notable changes in the market price for certain currencies of your choice occur; if my servers are not healthy or my programs are incorrect, I could send you the message too late, or with the incorrect badges, or at the wrong time ... this is not a problem of the device that I am sending the push to.
Not defending the iPad, just noting that a lot of the comments here may not related to potential issues with the service on this device but instead of issues of the applications being mentioned.
The Iphone apps work with push on my Ipad, but the Ipad apps don't even appear in notifications. Restore doesn't work (as suggested by apple store). This is occuring on all my Ipad apps. Words with Friends, AP News etc. anything that needs push doesn't appear in notifications menu. This is an Ipad bug not an app bug.
I've been having problems with We Rule and also no wifi network list has been showing up. I don't remember getting any notifications at all in the past week that I have had my iPad.
I am having push notification issues on my ipad with iphone apps nimbuzz and fring. On fring, the notification pops up, but when I answer, nothing. On nimbuzz it doesnt even pop up. and yes the wifi is activated. basically I want to use safari to make a gv call and have fring answer it. bummer
I am not getting push notifications for words with friends or scrabble (both are the iPad apps). I am getting them for the We Rule iPad app and the Facebook iPhone app.
I hope it gets sorted out soon, they are quite important to turn based online games.
I am not getting notifications for AIM or for TextPlus ... Making both apps essentially useless. Maybe the problem lies in the ORDER that the apps were installed on the device??? I have no idea but putting out there as a possibility since some ipads are ok and some are not.
UPDATE ... On. Hunch, I disconnected from my wifi connection at home and tethered to my android phone out to tmobile's 3G network. VOILÀ, push started working perfectly for AIM and TEXTPlus ... This is not an app problem and it is not a iPad problem ... It seems to be a network problem ...
PLEASE COMMENT, let's get this fixed.
No notifications for Scrabble. And yes, I have them enabled.
I have a few apps that would like to use push notificatiins, or so they asked when I first launched them, but I never got a single push from day one. iM plus is one of those apps, whether the iPad is awake or sleeping, am on the app or another one, I received one message or fifty, its still the same, no push. And its all turned on whether in Settings.app or in the apps itself.
It just does not work for me.

My AIM for iphone's push works but not the iPad one. It looks cool, but it's a bummer. If I have both versions on. I can use the push on the iPhone version and it tells me I have an IM?
I get push notifications only one time after restart of ipad and then nothing again. I use toodledo and im+
I get no push notifications on my wifi network - until I connect to my USA VPN (I'm in Australia - the VPN enables USA only services like pandora etc). The moment I connect to the VPN notifications work. I have a time capsule acting as my router. Any ideas why this would be happening. Words with friends and ping both behave the same. Help!!
I have wifi iPad only and my push works perfect even in sleep mode screen comes on showing the alert.

Push doesn't work for me when I am on my wrt300n router. when I go other places it works fine. I think it is a router setting problem. Thoughts?

I have same word with friends issue. Showing a 1 badge on the app even when there is no active play. Not pushing changes when there is active play.

The only push notification that is not working is the Chess with Friends (both Premium and Free versions)
Words with Friends HD, Facebook, and Charadium work... and CHESS is my favorite APP!
Inviting friends for a game using game center does not work (tried this with Fruit Ninja)
I can see my friends - if they change their status message it also shows, but I can not invite them for a game.

I am not receiving notifications from Scrabble. I am receiving notification from Words with Friends. Both set up the someway.

I have the solution, simply go to settings wi fi and then change your dns to 8.8.8.8 (Google) and all the push notificaciones will work again
Words With Friends HD is not sending notifications
App is MBoxmail for IPad. Badge and sound Notifications haven't worked now for about 2 weeks, you really do take them for granted when they are working! Emailed developer who didn't really give much info other than to say they would be up and running soon? The actual mail is still coming through but I actually have to manually open the app for it to come through. Apps that do seem to be able to still push are the generic mail app, App store app etc.
Not getting sound, badges, or visual notifications (the blue box) for AIM chat on ipad2. Settings for notifications on the ipad itself are all set to ON position, and sound notification for on the AIM app is also set to ON. Used to work fine and suddenly stopped working a couple of weeks ago or so. The IMs are there if I manually open the app, but without any notification, it's too late!

Not getting notifications for pretty much anything UNTIL I open the darn app. To list a few: Skype, IMO, myPad+, the App store (no updates are shown), iMailGHD. I only have one app that seems to be working fine... Google app... I will love you if you know how to solve this.

My iPad (1st Gen) shows a push notification for Words With Friends, however, there is no game that needs to be played. How do you take the push notification off?
it Must be due to the new feature of the side switch ? If on mute position it will also mute the notifications

I had exactly the same problem for two days scratching my head and getting sweaty but I thought no way Apple could have done things wrong as they use a high level of iteration before launching a product to the public.
So the thing to do is the following:
1/ go to General then use side switch to "LOCK ROTATION" as if to mute then it will mute also the notifications 
yeah it makes sense.
2/ go to "mail, contacts and calendar" and set "fetch new data" to "PUSH" !
3/ in the "FETCH" part of the "PUSH" menu for the applications that cannot use instant push notifications and download , select "every 15 minutes or more depending your references"
4/ check that all email accounts you configured in the settings are set to FETCH in the case they cannot Be set to PUSH
FINALLY: go back to notification center and select all the applications that you want to be active to notify you, for example: select mail then put notification center "ON" then you must chose the alert style: if alerts it will continuously display in the middle of the screen and you are forced to take action every time so better use banners selection for emails so that you just need to pull down the notification menu swiping down the screen form top to down to see the notifications.
NOW IT WILL WORK AND REALLY NICE!

Im having push notification on my iphone 4s with We Rule Deluxe 1.62 only. It was working fine till I installed the app on the ipad 2. looks like all notification is going to the ipad instead of the iphone. The notification is currently turned off on the ipad and still not getting anything on the iphone...
I'm having the same exact problem. I turned off the notifications on my iPad 2 and even deleted and reinstalled we rule on my iPhone 4s and it's still not working.
