Just the other day iPhone Dev Team member, MuscleNerd, announced the release of iPhone 4.0 redsn0w 0.9.5 beta for developers and now he has announced beta number 2 0 [download link].

Since most jailbroken apps are currently busted in the iPhone OS 4 (iPhone 4.0) beta, this particular version of redsn0w is meant to be used solely by developers to fix their jailbreak apps and should not be used by anyone else.

Are you are considering to jailbreak when iPhone OS 4 is released? Tell us why or why not in the comments below!

First! And the second to last sentence is grammaticaly incorrect. Lol

  2. Rudy says:

Ofcourse! I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing the iPhone can do much more if I only just Jailbreak it. Sb setting , the nicer pro switcher, ireallsms, custom icons and sounds, orbits, lock info, infinitdock, mywi, I wish I could JB my new iPad already!

  3. Miked says:

Absolutely. Lets see....lockinfo, sb setting, SMS reply, mywi, etc.

  4. KazM says:

I can't use an IPhone if its not jailbroken. So many of the Apps and features I use everyday come from Cydia. Just to name a few, Action Menu, backgrounder, biteSMS, Categories, Circuitous, Firewall IP, GV Mobile +, iFile, My3G and My Wi. I'm so happy they have already broken 4.0, so now I know I can jailbreak mine on Day 1!

  5. 1911 says:

I would love to have the ability to use apps such as My Wi in conjunction with my iPad. Being so new to the platform I don't know the pros and cons to jailbreaking my phone. The move from a blackberry was so eye opening that I have not had the time to discover all the new uses for the iPhone. I will do more research on the forums but will most likely do the dirty deed.

  6. Luis says:

The question it is not if we are going to jailbreak the thing is if we are going to have a jailbreak available

  7. DoubleDown says:

    Are you are ? I am I am !

  8. adam says:

I haven't jailbroken my iPhone yet and I updated to 3.1.3 before I even considered jailbreaking it - so there went that option. However after becoming more and more frustrated with the iPhone/Apple's "closed environment experience" I can't wait to jailbreak after OS 4 is released. I mainly want to us SB settings.

Also is there a way to enable Bluetooth AVRCP in a jailbroken iPhone?

  9. Aerimus says:

I have thought long and hard about not jailbreaking come 4.0, and the one thing that I simply can't get around is mywi... Why the hell is not standard to tether your phone for things like the ipad or a laptop. The idea that you have to buy a whole separate account for these is ridiculous. Other things that I would miss would be sbsettings, overboard/orbit for pulling up all springboard screens, and uremote which I use for making changes to my bit torrent client.

I also think that I will want something that allows me to change what home button presses do...i think activator does that.

  10. Addy says:

    Reasons to jailbreak:

    1. Save money on buying so many apps from the app store.
    2. Use many apps such as Tom Tom bla bla for free and don't pay a penny.
    3. Jailbreak is free and allows me to use my iPhone in a totally new way.
    4. So many games avaliable, helps me use my iPhone to it's full potential.

    Need any more??

  11. Nati says:

    Nope. 

  12. Nabarl says:

@Addy: The point of jailbreak is not to PIRATE software onto the phone. Although this is a consequence, the idea behind jailbreak was to gain FULL functionality of the phone. These developers are already hard pressed to make money on these apps, which is the whole problem with the app store. The Devs aren't making enough money on their products, which scares other would-be-could-be Devs away!

I for one will be jailbreaking, as i use many of the apps mentioned previously in this post. Apple WILL never hand over full functionality of the phone to the consumers.

  13. Dionte says:

As of today I don't plan on jailbreaking again.

  14. Chris C-E says:

I JB'd my phone to get the 5 icon dock, background images, themes and also most importantly to me categories/folders. Knowing that I'll have folders in 4.0 and background is nice.

I will miss the 5 icon dock and the ability to modify my lock screen. If Apple just let us do more with our phones, or at least shipped with a standard form and function for the non-techies, but gave those of us who want to change it up an option that would be sooooo nice.

  15. Malaytim says:

Jailbreakers and pirates (not all jailbreakers are pirates, but all pirates are jailbreakers) will eventually force Apple into hardware protection that completely blocks the attempt to go around their operating system restrictions.

Too bad that a few will cause this much grief and added cost for the rest of us.

  16. Kiwisholland says:

Itunes started giving me trouble with Instapaper and Evernote when they updated for iPad on my 3.1.2 iPhone. I need Evernote. But I almost need Intelliscreen as much. I have been pulling my hair out since I updated to 3.1.3, not having my Intelliscreen Notifications. I will be JB-ing day one when it's available for 4.0

  17. Farooq says:

To watch Raizo trainin is amazin ... reminds me of how "The Bride" in Kill Bill trains ... sum interestin stuff http://tinyurl.com/BHVNinja

  18. Dr_Stein says:

Yeah, I'm really unhappy at the number of people that jailbreak just so they can pirate apps from Cydia. That's pretty sad, because so many apps are only $0.99 anyway. That's just a slap in the face to smaller developers and has the potential to lead to more ridiculous DRM methods.

  19. rocketcuse says:

Since I am on a 3G and all ready jailbroken, YES will will jailbreak 4.0. Though I am JB, the biggest reason is I want my multitasking, which works perfectly fine when JB and using SBSettings.

  20. Ozzie says:

So, I bought A 3gs bout a month ago. I am thing about jb it. I did that with my blackberry, downloaded to the latest cracked version an themes like no other.

Is jb traceable? If I do do it.. What's the worst that can happen.. Just an erase and reinstall of the orignal os?

    Thanks all

    Ozzie

  21. Linus says:

Because I bought my iphone out of my country and it doesn't work with the normal OS, so I can't use it if its not jailbroken.

  22. David Bradford says:

I want to jb my 4.0 os I really love action menu and hope it will soon b compatible for os4
