Apple posts new "What is iPad" TV commercial
Apple has released their second iPad TV commercial and it focuses on "what is iPad?". The voice is older and more gravelly. The music is slower and more deliberate. Just like the iPad, it takes its time. It also focuses the imagery on idealized use cases and puts the attention where it should be -- on the features.
iPad is thin. iPad is beautiful. iPad goes anywhere and lasts all day. There's no right way or wrong way. It's crazy powerful. It's magical. You already know how to use it. It's 200,000 apps and counting. All the world's websites in your hand. It's video, photos, more books than you can read in a lifetime. It's already a revolution and its only just begun.
It's an interesting direction for Apple advertising. Seems like smart one too.

They won't let that add in Canada because we have strict laws against making blatently false claims in ads.
The may need to reword it to "The world's websites" since it doesn't do Flash or Java.

@6- yeah but in one month they've already sold 5x more iPads than they sold Newtons over their 5 year run. So iPad is not going to be a failure by any stretch of the imagination.

Is anybody else annoyed with the constant "magical" refrain? It's a piece of consumer hardware, not Gandalf's other staff. Solid science*, slickly made and packaged silicon, that's it. Just put it out there, say what it does, and STFU with the pablum and hyperbole already.
Great ad. It goes to show you that Apple was way ahead of the curve with Newton. And as for me, the iPad is SFA. apple haters ...go buy a blackberry or a droid and visit their sites. iPad FTW

Wow lot of hate for Apple, The ipad and iphone. You got people like Dionte coming on a "i" blog about the ipad saying he wants a sprint phone insted of the iphone. If you want it go get it. Ya got people saying the ipad will fail. Last I read there going on 1.5 to 2 million sold. The thing came out 41 days ago. Making apple billions how is that fail. As far as the iphones go it's the best phone ive used. And ive had Blackberry's, Nokia n's, win mo, andoid phones. And AT&T's service is the best where I live and travel.It's amazing to me all the hate on all this. To each it's own people but seriously grow up.
I love that new commercia. And wow newton really brought me back. The iPad is the s-h-i-t, let's face it. If you don't have one don't even comment here and if you refuse to get one because you hate apple so much, have fun with taking your battery in and out when your blackberry freezes, We won't miss you at all
I also wanted to add the the people complaining about crash opps I mean flash. It's not coming to Apple idevices get over it. If you want a device that runs crash iv'e read that android will get it so people like dionte can run crash I mean flash on there sprint 4g device that currently works in 11 states.

the main page on yahoo.ca today has a huge article saying how apple has become uncool and is hailing this as the first stage in the decline of apple. I can see he has a point but I do think that the only people who care about most of his points are tech nerds...even so its interesting that its on a mainstream website
oh and 4G wimax apparently has speeds down of 4Mbps and up of 1Mbps and that is with the tower in the building with the testers...NOT that impressive if you compare to LTE where they are claiming 10Mbps down
@17- I don't know whether Apple is becoming uncool or not, but I have a friend visiting from Brazil who wants to pick up an iPad and our local Apple store is sold out of all 6 models. So they must be cool enough to buy, even though they run from $500 to $830 and don't run Flash.
Well said macboy15. I love how people say the ipad will still fail and bring up flash. I'm sorry but it seems Apple has already succeeded. Especially since they've already exceeded expectations. Macboy15 is right, grow up guys. I don't see how the sales of iPad's hurt anyone. Oh and if anything, it's driving innovation for other companies to come out with their own slates. So buy one of those Android devices (when they come out) and enjoy it. I'm still waiting to see what the other companies will come out with to see which one I'm going to get, but if it's not as polished as the ipad, then I'll probably get the ipad.

It does, in fact do Java VERY well, but nice try
. It's just Flash it doesn't do.
Do not make the common mistake of confusing JavaScript (ECMAScript) with Java, a programming language form Sun Microsystems used for plugins.
