Which iPhone 4 feature are you most looking forward to?

TiPb's done an iPhone 4 preview but I'm still curious -- which iPhone 4 feature are you most looking forward to? Did Apple have you at FaceTime? Are you drooling over that massively dense Retina Display? Or is it the hot custom silicon in the Apple A4 chipset that gets you going? With over 600,000 pre-orders the first day, something sure is making Apple's newest handset popular.

NOTE: We didn't include multitasking, folders, or similar features since those are more properly iOS 4 related and we have a separate iOS 4 feature poll up for that!

Check your answer in the poll above, then tell us why in the comments.

And, of course, here come the CDMA iPhone 4 on Verizon rumors
  1. CJ says:

I'm looking forward to, not one, but to several new features. Coming from a 3G, this is most definitely going to be an A+ upgrade.

  2. Vince says:

    All of the above

  3. scott says:

What am I looking forward to??? ACTUALLY GETTING THE FREAKING PHONE!!

  4. Ron says:

    Other: multitasking

  5. Simon Reidy says:

I agree CJ. My aging jailbroken 3G is buckling under the weight of so many apps. It's poor processor and tiny ram are really showing their age.

Speed of the A4 chip aside, I'm look forward to the 5mp camera and 720p recording the most. I just hope Apple don't cripple 720p by over-compressing it to save space (this has been the case on all Android phones so far that support HD recording).

  6. Justin says:

HD recording and FaceTime but my partner wants to wait for white so I guess I'll be factiming myself lol

  7. Leet says:

I have a 3G too, tine to upgrade because of everything above it's a speed boost, better camera, HD video calling and screen and better wifi, better and gyroscope

  8. Krypt says:

All the above really. + the LED light on the Rear Camera. It's about time!!!!!

  9. Luke W says:

I voted for the 720p 30fps video recording, despite liking all the new features and upgrades, because I have always wanted to have a high quality video recorder on me to capture spur of the moment events which could later go on youtube or even sent into media outlets. I also love the 900mhz support because at the moment, I only get 3g in the city and major regional towns. Now I get 3g coverage in rural country areas, which is great because I love to go on drives all over the place and now my GPS will work properly.

  10. Paul says:

    The steel band antennas!

  11. J says:

Actually I'm not waiting for it at all... I was disappointed by no information about RAM and significantly better processor than in 3GS. I was expecting 1GB RAM to be competitive with HTC and some processor with 1GHz or similar. I really enjoy 3GS but there is absolutely nothing that makes me want to buy iphone 4 before my contract ends and I still have a year to wait so you can get my feel of urgency. I don't say it's bad phone I'm just saying there is no WOW factor compared with 3GS... Bigger screen and camera after 1 year of development... well, good luck to compete with HTC this year with that.

  12. Steve says:

Now we have a good processor and a good memory that permit us to have multitasking...

  13. Steve says:

I love iphone but J in the post above has written something real: bigger screen and a 5Mpx camera is not a step in the future compared to what other manufacturers now offer. And what about the price????

  14. Sainte says:

A4. My 3G is super slow now. Bigger battery life is a plus too. Everything else is just icing

  15. roostaar says:

Limited data plans. That's what I'm looking forward to. Thanks a fracking bunch O2-UK.

  16. Nick says:

I picked the Retina display from the list but am definately looking forward to more battery juice.

  17. Andrea says:

For me it's a toss up between the retina display and the larger battery. Although I have to admit that I'm also really looking forward to the HD video and ability to edit movies on my iPhone. I preordered and should have mine on the 24th. Can't wait!

  18. Johnnyreb says:

    @Scott no sh!t:)

I ordered mine a 1000am cst on the 15th and still haven't recieved an email. AT&T just took my money last night. Probly gonna be a long wait for me.

  19. ghostface147 says:

@Steve. There is no bigger screen. It's the same pathetic 3.5" screen since the initial release in 2007. The resolution is better, but in today's world, 3.5" is weak and outdated.

  20. Bcald7 says:

    Availability :-)

  21. Eagleyesmith says:

Yea, I'm really looking forward to the speed of the device and the screen, the most. My 3G continues to die more and more everyday haha.

  22. Isaac says:

Do we even know anything about an a4 chip were so used to intel

  23. Rob says:

For me the new features are great but I voted other for the new design its just gorgeous

  24. Mephisto says:

    @ghostface

Unless your going blind there's no need for a larger screen. There's a reason the EVOs battery life sucks...

  25. Brian says:

Where's the option for "All of the Above" ?

  26. UntidyGuy says:

I'm looking forward to the part where you order the device and they mail it to you. Awesome!

  27. JD says:

Enhanced email and any other enterprise related technology. Universal inbox will be interesting, but nobody has said of the calendar works better with MS Exchange so I guess I'll have to figure that out on my own. Currently it is almost worthless to manage Exchange calendars, its more of a view only (unless you really like screwing up your calendar)

  28. Bnv6 says:

    @ Ghostface

I'm perfectly fine with the screen size and overall size of the phone. I'd rather not carry around some oversized monster phone in my pocket (i.e. The EVO).

  29. Collin says:

Hoping for the inclusion of the improved accuracy of the GPS chipset found on the iPad 3G.

  30. LOOKATME says:

The feature Im looking forward the most is, actcually being able to walk into a store and buy one!

  31. Tansen says:

I think 3.5 inch screen is decent size. Sure people are impressed by bigger screens, but if it seems too small to you, just hold it a little closer to your face. With the high res display, Holding it closer will no longer result in pixelation. The resolution is easily my biggest qualm.

  32. ghostface147 says:

@bnv6. Yes the 4.3 on the EVO is a little to big, but there is no reason why the screen can't be 3.7". That .2 does make a noticeable difference.

  33. Justin says:

I put display, but this is what I'm looking forward to, in order:

Display Processor Battery Multitasking (I'm a JBer so I've been using it on my 3g as well as I could) 5MP camera 720p video recording Voice Control

  34. cardfan says:

    960x640 Retina Display

    That was easy..

  35. JD says:

+1 on the size. The EVO and future phones are going to border on iPad size if they keep it up. How big is too big when one is talking about a mobile phone? At what point does one make jokes about having to wear special clothing just to carry around the next version of Android phone because it doesn't fit in a pocket anymore. (plus I'd rather have a phone that doesn't have a screen that comes apart or stops responding)

  36. iBear says:

"Which iPhone 4 feature are you most looking forward to?"

    The f*cking white one.

  37. Mark says:

All these ppl who go on about wanting a bigger screen- why? It's a phone not a freaking ipad!! The screen size is perfect, any bigger and it would be cumbersome. I already have 6 inches in my trousers, I don't need any more ;)

  38. Dane says:

    All of the above!

Not sure what all the fuss is about regarding screen size...moving to a larger screen size makes the phone less "pocketable." I'm hoping that Apple will continue to keep the screen size the same on next gen devices and continue improving on pixel density.

  39. Ken Z. says:

I'm with Simon Reidy. I've enjoyed my 3G. Can't wait for this upgrade. Woot!

  40. Calculus II says:

All the features. Not upgrading to 4.0 Monday. I'll wait to experience it all for the first time Thursday.

  41. Hahahah says:

Ill just b grateful if fed ex shows up on the 24th. Then i hit the apple store to wait with my gf to get one, and get me a bumper. Ill b fending off ppl in the line tryn to see mine. Lol

  42. the truth says:

Let's face it. The 3.5 inch screen is a mistake. anyone that has used an evo will tell you how much nicer it is having the 4.3inches. I love Apple but come on guys. why act like 3.5 with a huge bezel is better than 4.3? go try and put the evo in your pocket and put the iPhone in the other pocket. you will see there is no difference. if there is then you wear terribly tight pants. I'm loyal to Apple. But I'm not blind. go try out the evo and then say you want a smaller screen. in a few years when Apple catches up and makes a 4inch screen you will then want one I guess. sort of like the no mms issue. all the fanboy were trying to convince me I didn't need mms because I could email the pictures to someone. BS. give me a 4inch screen Steve.

  43. firesign3000 says:

All of the above + multitasking. And as far as the screen size? I'm fine with it. Huge screens = bigger phones and crappier battery life. It's still something I have to carry with me all the time, and I'd rather it not be a big heavy brick.

  44. iGeekMan says:
    1. The Bigger Battery
    2. 960x640 Retina Display
    3. FaceTime video calling
    4. Higher quality 5mp rear camera
    5. 720p 30fps video recording
    6. Never Had An iPhone Before
    7. Buh Bye Palm Pre LOL
  45. Alex says:

Can't wait to stand in line in exactly 7 days!!!!!! (sarcasm...)

But seriously, i don't understand why people would want a bigger screen for a PHONE. I think the Evo's screen is too big, yes I've seen it in person, and didn't find it as comfortable to use as a phone than more like a mini-tablet. The only move I'd see Apple making is the move from 3.5 to 3.7 but even that's a stretch.

  46. Cubus says:

larger battery I consider my 3GS a portable phone - such us, unplug it, move it to a new location and plug it back in. Otherwise nice catching up to Android, but surely your new iPhone looks pretty.

  47. websyndicate says:

You know I want a white iPhone so that all I really want. My Unicorn

  48. iGeekMan says:
    1. The Bigger Battery
    2. 960x640 Retina Display
    3. FaceTime video calling
    4. Higher quality 5mp rear camera
    5. 720p 30fps video recording
    6. Never Had An iPhone Before
    7. Buh Bye Sprint Palm Pre LOL
  49. Iphone4 user black says:

All of the above. But would have liked an led notification like the one palm pre plus has

  50. the truth says:

Saying I can't understand why people want a bigger screen on a phone is like saying I can't understand why people want a web browser on a phone. everything you do except make calls is better if the screen is bigger. imagine if Apple shrunk the screen to 2.8inches. would you still say you can't understand why people want a bigger screen on a phone? games, sms, pictures, web, apps, are all better on 4.3 than 3.5. now I'm not saying make it an iPad. people who call evo a brick have either never used one or are biased because they consider it a threat to the product we all love,iPhone. shrink the bezel and make the screen 4inches and it will only help. there is nothing wrong with wishing for something better. why not say "i don't understand why someone would want 330pixels per inch on a 3.5 inch phone screen"? because more pixels is better. as is 4.3inches.

  51. Ed says:

I'm the other - waiting for it to leave crappy AT&T!!!

  52. Joe McG says:

I'm looking forward to using Facetime for late night chats with your sister...

  53. J1CA1 says:

Facetime= All my buddys could be facetimeing each other and my whole family uses a iPhone. So Facetime 4 me

  54. Todd says:

Looking forward to the illusive great White iPhone 4.

  55. ScreenToucher says:

All of the above for me as well.

  56. iGeekMan says:
    1. The Bigger Battery
    2. 960x640 Retina Display
    3. FaceTime video calling
    4. Higher quality 5mp rear camera
    5. 720p 30fps video recording
    6. iOS 4
    7. Never Had An iPhone Before
    8. Buh Bye Sprint Palm Pre LOL
  57. Bryan says:

3.5-4.0 is capable of handling pretty much every situation. The 4.3 in screen on the evo while quite impressive is unwieldy for most people. For hardcore users who game and use the data functions of the phone it is great. But for most people who use a couple of apps and use it as a phone and messaging machine it is unnecessary to have such a large screen. Geeks just love it. But the market determines your success. Why do you think after all this time blackberry is still number 1? Because even if it has a 2.8 inch screen it is useable for daily functions.

  58. Mr. Anonymous says:

Well I don't know about you guys, but Apple could have put the bezel found on boh sides of the phone to better use. Eventually, they'll all be singing a different tune when Apple introduces a larger display (nevermind screen resolution) next year.

  59. brn2prgrm says:

i think "the new design" should be added to the list.

  60. Josh says:

@Mr. Anonymous Didn't they already put the bezel to good use by making it a fracking antenna? I thought that was genious, but maybe I'm too easy to impress. What do you want the bezel to do, toast english muffins or be a dental floss dispenser?

  61. the truth says:

I think he means the bezel could extend the screen. We want a bigger screen. We can edit hidef videos but we are still stuck with a tiny screen by today standards.

  62. Mr. Anonyumous says:

    @Josh

I was referring to the area around the bezel.

  63. NestoB says:

    The LED flash

  64. rootbeersoup says:

The battery... I'm hoping it'll last me all day like my Blackberry does

  65. Mephisto says:

@ Mr Anon: Beneath the "bezel" i.e. the thin strips at the side of the screen that you think are there for no purpose their's actually components which aren't actaul screen.

If they weren't there they'd have to be somewhere else!

Now having dismantled many 3G/3Gs models I can tell you that there isn't very much space in there to move anything around.

If you're talking about the space above and below the screen there's also components under there. Expand the screen in one dimension and you need to expand it in another, and having played with an EVO I much prefer the dimensions of the iPhone for holding.

  66. SciTeach3 says:

As I was trying to narrow my vote down to just one it really hit me with all the really awesome upgrades this phone/computer has. We're not just getting one, we're getting them all! Yes Virginia, there is a Christmas in June!

Godspeed next Thursday...may your travel to me be swift!

  67. Rod1403 says:

I just want to get my hands on it first!

  68. Al says:

So...who are these crazy alien people who are most excited for the noise cancelling mic?

  69. Jeff says:

Bigger screens and phones do not exactly translate into worse battery life. A larger hardware model would make for more space to include an even larger battery. I am sure Apple could have developed a 3.7 or 3.8 inch device similar to the size of a Nexus One (which has battery life comparable to an iPhone).

  70. Kibbler says:

    All of the above.

  71. Troy Brown says:

Mine is a combination I wanted the A4 chipset for better backgrounding in iOS4 and the display

  72. Pererau says:

I know it is an ios feature, but because I have a 3G iPhone that won't get multitasking, that is my pick for why I want to upgrade hardware.

  73. benjitek says:

    I like it all :)

  74. Hack-My-I says:

im looking forward to ALL THE NEW FEATURES!!

  75. WatersWest says:

Actually, because I'm using Exchange ActiveSync for my personal e-mail, I'm really looking forward to iOS4 handling 2 Exchange accounts so I can finally put my work e-mail on my phone.

Hardware-wise, I'm looking foward to the Retina display, the speed, the increased memory over my current 3G, and the multi-tasking.

  76. Clint says:

How is multitasking not on there?

  77. Schrutefarms says:

I'm hoping the iPhone 4 jailbroken can handle the n64 emulator. I've been heartbroken to see Mario 64 lag on the 3gs. Maybe finally we will get a great emulator experience.

  78. Bmar says:

I currently have a 3gs and feel there is no need for an uprgrade besides lacking LED flash. I'd rather wait for till next year and get the iPhone 4 with 1G of RAM, idk I'm just saying. Anyone else in the same boat???

  79. Jeff B. says:

While eligible to upgrade, I'm holding off for now. What I really, really want to know about the i4 is if the call reception is improved with the new design. I'm not a big talker but have been completely underwhelmed by my 3GS phone call performance. The other features, including data, have been great.
