Today Apple pushed out the final, general release version of iOS 4 to the masses. (At least to the masses of iPhone and iPod touch users -- the iPad version isn't scheduled until later this fall).

My AT&T order (1:30PM EST / 10:30AM PST) and my parents AT&T order (3:55PM EST / 12:55PM PST) are both showing "Processing". Not shipped yet. I have "some" faith, since the pre-orders that are support to arrive on Thursday were those that were in before 1:30PM PST (or 4:30PM EST).
The only thing I needed to do just now, while waiting, was to hose my jailbreak once and for all with 3.1.3.
I won't miss the hassles of jailbreak one bit. Going straight, finally.
Both my AT&T pre-orders show shipped as of 7:00am this morning. Gives Fedex tracking numbers for the phones, Fedex can't locate those numbers at the moment however.

Is there any difference between the gm seed and the official release? I've seen 200 people ask but no one is giving an answer. Do u know?
What to do while waiting? Hit update over and over.
@Nick: We won't know if there is anything different until the GM is released today. What was released at WWDC wasn't the GM seed, but in fact a release candidate. Will there be differences? Maybe, but not likely. If people are wondering, the GM Candidate build is 8A293.
The GM seed, is exactly what we will be getting today. No changes. The devs have to be able to update their apps to work with the new OS.
Does it take anyone else about 3hrs to back up your data to iTunes?
@Brandon: No. It takes me 30 seconds on iTunes 9.2 and the current GM Candidate Build.
Ok so I need help if I'm able to get a early upgrade is it just for June 24 or could I still get the discount on Jul 3 ???? Plz answer
Yes you can get the upgrade, the reason is, they want to sell you another phone and lock you in for two more years.
@ Brandon I've the same issue. I was thinking it was because of the jailbreak. R u jailbroken?
Any word on a 4.0 JB? Won't update without one.
While waiting I'm playing BFBC2. But doesn't mater I'll get a iPhone 4 this Thursday.
My At&t pre-order also shows shipped with tracking numbers!
It takes forever to back up because you're probably sending crash data to Apple. If you change your settings it will skip that step and it should take closer to 5-10 minutes to backup instead of hours.

Brandon, it did for me with my 3G with iTunes 9.2 prior to loading iOS4 GM on it. Afterwards, it was back to normal.
My order now has a FedEx number but still doesn't say it has shipped so I guess that is a good sign!!

@Brandon @BBYM It took about 2.5 hours for me last night... 17gb of music and about 7gb of other stuff (apps, pics, podcasts, etc). Jailbroken 3GS with iTunes 9.2. Going to revirginize it tonight before upgrading to iOS4.
@Brandon my 3G just hung while attempting backup. Took forum advice to remove iTunes and reinstall. After that, it took me about 3 hours. Not jailbroken. It's why I never updated to 3.1.3. Never had to uninstall/reinstall on my mac before. But then I've only had it a year.
Um, I just figured out what the waiting means. Thanks for putting up with my crazy rant. I will download it when I get back from work. Thanks for all your help in the forums. I really appreciate it and someday I won't be so technologically challenged. ;O)

got my iPhone 4 shipped letter this morning and it said that it was shipped on the 18th.
just checked my tracking number and it can not be found on fedex track. oh i forgot to say i ordered from att
I'm going through the apps on my iPhone to see which one need logins or use the unique ID of the iPhone. Not necessarily for iOS4, but for when I get the iPhone 4. It's probably going to be a pain to migrate accounts, etc. for various apps (at least, if I want to keep my stats in games, etc).
Pandora just update thier app works great in the background...

Backup, OS 4.0 download/update NO problems whatsoever on my 3GS. I was also Jailbroken on OS 3.1.3 and did NOT bother to do anything with that. Everything was RESTORED, i.e. all email accounts, photos, videos, Notes, 4 open Safari tabs, and every last setting! I even had the wallpaper from a theme I had from Cydia. I like the fact that there is a character count for texting that you can turn on now.
Hope this helps someone jailbroken and on the fence as to whether or not you should upgrade.

I just got home...downloaded and installed iOS 4 in less than 10 minutes....??? Checking it out now...working flawlessly...
Exchange calendar not showing in Calendar on my 3G post update. Seen a couple of other reports like this too

J1CA, if you know about Game Center, you loaded iOS 4 GM. This was was intended for developers only. Game Center was a preview for the developers to know what was coming. It's not ready for release yet, which is why it's not in the 4.0 final release.
If you really want, you can load iOS 4 GM again, but there's no guarantee that it will keep working since it is a preview for developers only.
After downloading the update I installed on my 3GS.
At first things were looking good
Multitasking - check Wallpaper - check Spellcheck - check (lol) And the other 100 or so other features.
Pretty cool - so i thought.........
Went into music - no songs !!!!! WTF !!!!!
All albums are there and play ok ???
Tilt my 3GS landscape - no coverflow ????
Apple - what they giveth with one hand they take away with the other.
Anyone else had similar - or know a fix ????

Everything worked great but now I'm not getting my voicemails anymore. Also cellular data seems to have issues as well. I've been reading similar stories on the apple forums.
Is anyone having issues with their phone being disabled while in a call or checking voicemail? you can't access anything and the screen goes black, and in order for it to stop, the other person has to hang up.

Hey, just curious.. i tried to sync my photo's via iPhoto to my 3G in iOS4 but it shows an error message.. saying the required file is missing... ANYONE know this problem?

ok i tried everything found a solution but not a good one as it require you to restore and not to back up your phone but to set it to a new iphone in the opions worked for me 3g data works fine!

@redshirt: I decided to do a resync with iTunes and it appears to have solved the missing songs and the coverflow issues I experienced.

I had the black screen after jailbreaking iOS4. I restore to original iOS4 and now system works as it is supposed to be.
P.S. I used "redsn0wwin0.9.5b5-3" for jailbreaking.
