Tired of waiting for a white iPhone 4? Do it yourself!
While manufacturing problems have reportedly caused delays in Apple's own white iPhone 4 rollout, enterprising do-it-yourself (DIY) types, armed with tear-down guides and replacement parts from China are taking matters into their own hands.
Richard Lai from Engadget gave it a go, and while there are definitely some gotchas, who expects fashion to come without a price?
Once fitted, we were saddened to find out that our white covers weren't complete -- the front one's missing an earpiece grill, whereas the back cover lacks a lens cover and a LED diffuser. We did consider cannibalizing the original black covers, but the small parts needed were strongly glued on. Ah well, considering the mod's in full working order (discounting the infamous antenna issue), we'll make do with this and avoid touching the lens. Now, where do we sign up for eBay?

Do what you want to YOUR iPhone, you paid for it! Looks good But I think a white back & black front would look good to.
I will keep waiting for the white one. I refuse to order black.
I'm still waiting for white. I'm hoping it's only another week or two. And if jailbreak ip4 and white become available around the same time... That would just be super!

Pretty sure they won't roll the white ones out until at least 30 days after launch. Too many people think they're going to just walk in and swap their black for white. That would cost AT&T and Apple too much. My bet is day 31 after original launch date.

Maybe it's just me...but I like the black button, off-setting all of the white.
I'm really getting tired of waiting but I will keep on waiting for the white iPhone I refuse to order a black one. If I have to wait till next year I will do so.

Lol. I read this comment yesterday here at tipb about how the writers here are running out of stories and the writing is...lacking. I thought to myself, "na, I dont think that is correct." I mean it has been a slow week I guess here at tipb but come on now guys, this story was posted at Engadget almost a week and a half ago. WEAK.
White is so gay. I ended up upping to the 32g 3GS last year b/c they were out of 16g black and I refused to get white. It so screams "look at me! I've got an iPhone!"
A friend of mine owns one of the largest replacement parts stores for the iPhone/iPad/Touch in the US - based out of Louisiana. Two days ago he got the complete set of parts and has successfully converted it to a white one (no semi-done job lol). It looks seriously awesome but it's expensive - for every single part I believe he was looking at over $200.
Sadly - I'm sure this will be my next project. Haha!!

I like the black button with white faceplate! I do not think it is half-a**ed at all; there is contrast in colors and it matches.
All good things come to those who wait. Heck the white on may have an internal antenna, no yellow spots, and so on.

@Wow: If you live in a climate where it's hot 24/7, having a white iPhone is clutch. Leave a black iPhone and a white one outside in the sun for five minutes and find out which one's in fire.
You really should jus save yourself the trouble and go to skinit.com. I'm happy I have the black one!! Do you see the sensor above the earpiece?? That would distract me sssooo much!! I know I'm weird but at least I would tell you if I saw something out of place (like if you had a booger hanging lol)
The gives a bit of a real world preview of what the white i4 will look and I'm not liking it as much as I thought... Makes me glad I have a black one and didn't end up waiting for a white...
So over waiting for O2 network to get there act together that seriously think I will find another network to get it on. Customer service has been appauling. Just a joke. Saul
Not such a huge deal to wait for the White iPhone 4. I will be waiting for one, my girlfriend ordered her Black iPhone 4 on the second day of pre-ordering and it wont arrive for another two days.
I think the black looks more sleek and nice. The white is more of an attention grabber which isn't my style. The white would also show dirt and such more. I like both and I am not knocking either of the two but I am going black either way.
