Android-based iPad knock-off gets hands-on
Phil from Android Central -- whom I adore down to his robotic little socks -- just loves to torture me by sending over links to stuff like Android-based iPad knock-offs that get a hands-on courtesy of one of his readers.
So what we've got here is a Chinese Android MID. It has four buttons -- the home button on the front (like the iPad's), menu and the volume rocker, and a power button.
It has a pair of speakers, one microphone, one microSD card slot, and one USB port.
The tablet has 1GB of internal storage. Not sure about RAM or ROM. It's built on Android 1.6. the kernel version is 2.6.29-00236-g4f8dbbb-dirty, and the Build number is 1.7.2. It has no market, but it has an "Apps Store."

Rene, has anyone received an update on the White iPhone 4?? Been waiting and waiting and still no news on whether it's even coming out :-/. Vodafone rang me yesterday (UK) and they said they've not heard anything despite them constantly ringing Apple to find out info, they Lao said they expect it to be months before it's released. You got any inside info?

Google is about to come out with a basic program that anyone can be a developer. There will be more nonsense apps out there. Apple had there share of crap, and still does at times, but android app store will really fill up with junk due to their lax approval process. Apple is a pain taking so long, but you are less likely to get a program that may harm your device. I am more curious to see what HP dies with web os, and a tablet. The good of this will be better prices. When you can buy other tablets for less, Apple will come down. Look at the $99.00 new 3GS running iOS4.
Yo.. Jcal moron... Having just ditched my iphone for a evo, these people you speak of are correct. The Andriod versions of these apple products are superior. Its not an opinion, it is fact. You can cry ALLLLLL day and night about it, but it wont change things at this time. Now, pack up your iphone4, return it for one that has a working antenna....oh wait, they have not figured out how to fix that yet, sorry. Anyway, iphone had its day, they started something GREAT, and now are being overshadowed by other better products. It is the way of business. And Glenn, if you were to pay $99 for a 3GS you truly are a moron as well. I just gave mine away. They are worthless anymore. Retard.
I wanna say ipad very nice, nice built quality, extremely sensitive LCD,HD touch screen,wifi enabled. I got one last week for my own use, my brother asked me to buy the same one for him. But if you cannot afford it, an Apad is also a good choice, it's only around $100, but with full function of ipad.
