Football season is fast approaching and why not prepare for the upcoming season by checking out the newly released Madden 2011 for not only the iPhone but on the iPad as well. The iPhone version will run you $7.99 while the iPad version is a bit steeper at $12.99. Yes, these two are pricier than we'd like to see but this is EA's cream of the crop and has been for many years so it was to be expected. If you are not in a hurry to pick these up, simply wait a few weeks and it's very possible you will soon see the prices come down.

The game itself contains some pretty great graphics for a portable device but also has some killer features carried over from the console versions as well.

  • TDC (“Total Defensive Control”) makes playing defense pure fun. Press the TDC button to pause the action, position your defensive players, and feel the thrill of delivering game-changing hits like never before.

  • GameFlow lets you to choose your play without having to go back into the playbook. Stay on the move with more streamlined gameplay.

  • Match up all 32 NFL teams featuring updated rosters and nearly 2,000 real players.

  • This season, get more gameplay depth with Hot Routes Everywhere. Now draw up Hot Routes for passing, running, and defense. Even save your best (or craziest!) routes as audibles.

EA also states that multiplayer will be coming in a soon to be released update for the iPad version.

I love madden. I have madden 10 for iPhone and don't play it that much if ever. I can't really get into it on iPhone or iPad like on a 360 or ps3. Wish they made for pc

  6. Chris says:

$7.99 isn't a bad price at all, considering how much the console version is--or any other handheld versions.

$7.99 for a quality game that offers hours of gameplay is money well-spent.

Is there any news whether iPhone will have multiplayer on?

What? Are you referring to the actual game itself as the "real thing"? Sorry to burst your bubble, but unless you're a tightend or a quarterback on an NFL team, even watching it on TV doesn't qualify as the "real thing".

Games of specific real life activities are a great form of entertainment for millions upon millions, and while being a "novelty", they are no less so than watching it from afar by actual sports fans who merely observe and complain, without possessing an iota of skill.

Man, they said multiplayer was coming for version 10 since it was released forever ago.

Downloading now, 2010 was fun but lost my interest without multiplayer, hopefully this will keep my interest longer.

  13. Joel says:

Bluetooth multiplayer home/away bug still exists where certain devices are destined (or doomed, depending on how you look at it) to always be host and home team, or guest/road team. Needs to be a way to flip a virtual coin for home/away.

Bluetooth multiplayer mode also results in lots of crashing for both players. Hopefully this will be fixed in a 1.1 release.

  14. Jason says:

I hope it's less buggy than '10, because they never bothered to fix multiple issues with that release that killed it for me. At such a premium rate for a iDevice app, you expect better from developers, especially EA.

Why doesn't Madden 11 work anymore????!
