Steve Jobs began his introduction of iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touch not by listing the new features, but by listing the bugs it fixes -- proximity sensor, Bluetooth, and iPhone 3G.

Each of those were annoying enough to be near deal-breakers for some, so their being fixed is certainly good news. Finally.

iOS 4.1 is scheduled to arrive next week. Is that soon enough for you?

Apple TV has A4 chip, iOS, so where are the apps, games, a web browser?
  1. Keil Miller says:

I want it now! I want a new back case too because mine cracked (iPhone 4).

  2. Tis says:

I am most defiantly going to be getting a new iPod touch in 2011!

  3. DavidSights says:

Aw, no more blaming my iPhone for hanging up on people I don't want to talk to.

The update should've been available today, but at least we're not waiting till November like we are for iOS 4.2.

  4. jtz5 says:

So what are the Bluetooth fixes, specifically?

  5. David says:

What was/is wrong with Bluetooth? It's worked flawlessly for me.

  6. BuffDaddydeluxe says:

Well I can't speak for anyone else but my Bluetooth was not recognizing my device. It was fixed for me in the 4.0.2 update.

  7. icebike says:

And no mention (didn't expect any) of the leaked new iPhone models to fix the antenna problems. (Steve's henchmen putting contracts on the Mexican Carrier that broke the story even as we speak.)

  8. cardfan says:

Hopefully a jailbreak will be coming quickly.

  9. jtz5 says:

My Bluetooth audio was terrible, but I have no frame of reference as my headset didn't work prior to 4.0. Can audio quality be a "fix?"

  10. Joe McG says:

The Bluetooth call quality was crappy on some devices. Sounded like you were in a tunnel

  11. Facetime says:

I'll finally be able to use my iPhone 3G without it glitching! (I hope)

  12. BuffDaddydeluxe says:

What problems were we supposed to be having with 3G?! I want aware we were having issues.

  13. Mike says:

Big thumbs up for proximity sensor fix!!! I can't wait!!

  14. andre says:

  15. Lenrage says:

How about AVRCP........Would that be suported

  16. MeInEurope says:

Will it fix the white iphone 4 shortage?

  17. Will this make my old 3G as fast as my 3GS with 4.0? The iPhone 4 is much faster than both - combined!

    Kick Butt

  18. Darkstar says:

When I saw that the proximity sensor fix was coming with 4.1, especially after hearing a few gaszillion websites saying it wasn't coming in 4.1, I, well, this video should convey my feelings about the matter: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLnWf1sQkjY

  19. Desmond says:

What's weird is you have to wait another week. I understand having an event for new products and when they have major software updates. But all the pomp and circumstance is unnecessary. Apple should release these updates as soon as they are ready. All I know is iOS 5 better have some major improvements with notifications.

  20. Raptormd says:

So why exactly couldn't we get it today? Who cares about the iTouch if anything it makes the iPhone look less appealing especially Job's comment that it's an iPhone without a contract.

Apple needs more memory in the iPhone like 64GB given all of the games and size each one rquires.

  21. Dexter says:

"The New iPod Touch is an iPhone without a contract"

It's comments like this that make me cringe and also make people criticize the new iPhones as "they're nothing but iPod Touches with a phone!" >:[

  22. Larry says:

I had to return my iP4 due to bluetooth issues.. It would not stay connected to my car's bt system, would need to be manually connected each time, then constantly disconnecting and reconnecting for very short periods of time.. I'm hoping that this fixes the problem so I can get another iP4.

    • Marianna says:

the updated fbeoacok on the iphone sucks!!!! very frustrating. when i go to a friends wall i cant see all of their feeds. also i cant see my game app posts anymore from people.

  23. websyndicate says:

so that means that I get 4.1 when the jailbreak comes out.

  24. jtz5 says:

Does anyone know if it's possible to make/receive phone calls with the new iPod Touch? I would imagine you might be able to use Google Voice or some VoIP and carry around a MiFi card to always be connected.

With all the reception issues I have with my iP4, that might be a better alternative.

  25. OmariJames says:

My settings and phone app never crashed on me until 4.0 , I hope steve's iPhone has been doing to same so they can fix this faster.

  26. jasonphil says:

The update looks splendid, but without-a-doubt not updating until the jail is broken.

  27. ronrontan says:

I just upgraded to 4.1 10 minutes ago -> The same frustrating problem!! My Iphone 4 still refuses to recognize my favorite JABRA 3030 stereo headset ( Refuse? NO, is unable to..... ) , the spinning wheel goes on spinning & draining my battery, The hardware spinning like a wind mill is just like the spin " The proximity sensor on 4.1 is far more reliable...." , which makes me ask: Can anyone ( even almighty spinning Apple) fix a hardware issue with a software update?

France has a range of attractions that appeal to many tourists and at almost all occasions.

  29. Lara says:

Dealing with the O2 technical-help preson I got was a nightmare. Instead of wanting to sort out this customer's problem and make him a happy bunny, all she wanted was to have an argument, score points and send me off with a flea in my ear. She started from the default position that all arrogant blighters have: This guy is a problem. I'll treat him like sh1t and teach him a lesson for thinking we should care. Bye-bye O2 when my contract runs out.

  30. John says:

While watching videos my ipod 3g it won't turn sideways help me please
