Google Nexus S vs. Apple iPhone 4... websites?
Pictured above are the new Google Nexus S webite (www.google.com/nexus/#!/index) and the iPhone 4 website (www.apple.com/iphone) launched back in June. Apple is no doubt hugely flattered.

I wouldn't mind a little bit bigger screen, maybe 3.7
We live in a strange world. I can't wait for the Google to release retail stores where everything is free as long as you go through their bioscanner and give them all your information.
Heyy i love apple iphones they are so cool and my g-ma said thaty she was gonnna buty mhe one for christmas okay bye
"imitation is the best form of flattery"....or however that saying goes lol
Yeah... because Apple invented the white page with a 2 column layout of text and images...
Your reaching here... they may look similar but I doubt Google was trying to copy the apple web page... if anything the Nexus S page looks very good (plain and no frills)...
As far as the pictures go there aren't that many ways to take a picture of a phone...
In my post above I meant it looks "very Google"... not "good"
@Jason:
oh, PLEEEEEASE!
Until Google started copying everything Apple has done, they were incapable of designing anything beyond white empty pages with blue underlined text links.
Apple has the "Retina" Display. Then, magically, everybody started naming their screens AWESOME!!!! names... "Countour display"? These things should have a bit less ridiculous marketing names
Well since we're reaching here I guess we should criticize apple for copying HTC for designing a "slab" touch screen device too. Apple was not the first. They were the first to make it mainstream. This article is petty anyway. Lets hassle Target for emulating WalMart too while we're @ it.
"contour display" meaning the screen is curved. Not like the way Apple uses the term "retina display" to highlight viewing angles and clarity of the screen.
@ Jason .. well said.
On another note, Google is breathing oxygen now, just like Apple!
Sue em!
My lord...really! REALLY???
Hey, let get on all the names that Apple had to buy in order to name their products. Lets get on the way that everybody copied the idea of a cellular phone from Motorola. Lets talk about how every touchscreen is taking from the idea of PDA's...
I mean, can people EVER grow up and realize nobody ever has 100% originality in this world. For every innovation a company perceptively brings, there's an idea they've copied from another.
Learning is not copying.
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;"
Not even Him was 100% original... Who are us to think we could?
haha. "Well said?" Uh, no. He's full of crap. The two websites look WAY too similar, and shows a complete lack of design originality on Google's part. Did either of you even look at them?
Well really, Google has been doing the minimalistic white page for a long time now. It's really more their thing than Apple's.
I have to say this really is reaching. I dont think the pages are similar at all. I love my Ipad, and I love my Droid X. Lets not get too sensitive about the competition.
Who cares if the phone is good
I think its funny. Your comparing websites that advertise phones now? Ill ad that Samsung is the producer of the A4 chip inside the ipad and iPhone as well. If there were no Samsung your iPhone might not be as nicely polished as it is today. Your favorite phones will only be as good as the competition forces them to be. Samsung and Google are pretty good competition right now. What's in store for 2011 will be amazing.
I think Jason hit it spot on, with the fanboi-age aside. This is a pretty basic, commonly used web layout nowadays, two-columbed with some minor graphics in the header and a white background underneath bold black text. I mean.. look at this page here we're looking at. Just sayin, and of course there are only so many ways and angles to photograph a phone.
As for Tarus.. on the Retina/Contoured display spiel, let us go there, shame on Apple for mocking Samsung/HTC/Google with the Retina display, when they were the first to use the AMOLED Display, they should really cut out advertising their screen technology
Nobody cared about the screen in the iPhone 2G/3G/3GS because they were going to get/use it regardless. Now that they've got the Retina display.. apparently naming your screen's 'feature' is patented, knowing the crap Apple has started lawsuits over though.. wouldn't be much of a stretch.
Everyone just needs to calm down. There are similar websites all over the place, it happens.
Rene, this is not a 'copy cat' at all! Google and Apple alike have have long had a minimalistic approach. I am guessing you are not a professionally trained designer at all! One look at http://www.reneritchie.net clearly shows your lack of understanding clean and minimal graphic design. And this article clearly illustrates your inability to think critically.
Go back to school and learn design principles Rene
You are in your rightful place when you make fan boi comments, but when you make comments related to design you are a fish out of water.
My comment is aimed at you Rene
Omgg, even the browser looks the same!
TiPB will make a story out of anything.
I don't think Apple invented the standard two-column layout. This isn't news.
OMG, and the both use HTML!
This is just one example of Google's business model which appears to be: Let Apple Innovate and Google will Imitate. It is a standard business approach (Home Depot and Lowes, for example) and it is a more profitable one, as Google doesn't need to do any R&D to develop inventions. They just hire engineers to copy Apples inventions, tweak the code enough so they can't get sued and sell it for less.
Its very similar but I will not agree to the fact that Google copies from Apple...Microsoft does that...But Google will never do that...Android in any day is better than IOS.. Agrred guys ??
lol u guys that are saying google's copying apple are dumb google's been doing it the white way longer then lol all i gotta say is GOOGLE.COM
This is the stupidest blog post I have ever seen....claiming google copied apples website, and rallying all the iFanboys to the cause? Come ONNNNN "Google doesnt need to do any R&D because they just copy apple!!!" uhhhh what? Apple hasnt 'innovated' in the mobile phone market since the original iPhone. Yes that was ahead of its time, and pushed the smartphone market forward, but that was what, 3 years ago now? Get over it, iFanboys and realise that your fancy iPhone4 is nothing but an original iPhone with a bigger screen, and ZOMG FACETIME. With each and every android phone that has been released since androids first release, there has been more and more innovation. Looks like you guys are really reaching to claim GOOGLE COPIED THEIR WEBSITE.....aiya.....I could just as easily say ZOMG THERES A SEARCH FUNCTION IN THE iPHONE AND ON APPLES WEBSITE! THEY COPIED GOOGLE ROFL!!11
