Apple is currently looking for a software engineer to join the Apple Watch team and craft some new watch faces and complications. The latter enables the wearable to display advanced bits of information, such as flight times and info. We previously took a look at some of the best third-party complications available for the Apple Watch.
The applicant would be tasked with developing new faces for the catalogue, which third-party developers cannot yet add to. From the job posting:
"Join the team that is revolutionizing the watch! As a software engineer on the Apple Watch team, you will be responsible for building the Clock Faces and Complications. You'll work closely with the UI design, iOS Frameworks, and QA teams to develop interactions of superior quality that will ship to millions of users."
It seems strange that the major function of the Apple Watch, telling the time, is locked away from third-party developers who could really ramp up the production of new clock faces. That said, it's clear Apple would eventually take on-board more talent to expand its collection of faces for owners of the Apple Watch to personalize their prized possession. See the job listing on Apple's website for more details on the position.
