Apple has already sold three million new iPads

The New iPad

Following up on this morning's announcement from AT&T that they had busted sales records of the new iPad on launch day, Apple has also announced the sales numbers of their third-generation iOS tablet. Since Friday, three million new iPads have been sold, making this Apple's best iPad launch to date. While that's insane and awesome, there's still a lot of the world that has yet to get in on the action; this Friday, the new iPad goes on sale in Spain, Belgium, Mexico, Italy, Norway, Sweden and another 18 countries.

For better or worse, I can't even imagine other tablet manufacturers coming close to this kind of success in the near or distant future. Here's the press release.

Apple has already sold three million new iPads

1.5 billion, actually - considering the cheapest iPad value (499). So, it actually might be something around 2 billion.

seriously 3 million in 4 days its not that much better than the 2nd generation i mean its thicker, heavier the camera and the retina display is better, its more expensive and it has voice recognition but apart from that what is the difference

Quad core graphics, 1GB ram, and it's not more expensive. Do research before you make yourself sound like an idiot.

I agree with Gozzyx1, just a bunch of iSheep Apple's taking advantage of with their minor tweaks. Nothing all that great really..

If by a bunch of iSheep you mean 3,000,000 people (and counting), you are so right, it's nothing great.

The accessory department at Best Buy looks empty for the new iPad. I noticed tags on what was left state "iPad 3" and some say "the new iPad". They do not know what to call it, but accessories are making the big bucks also.

Not surprised as a lot of people skipped the iPad 2. I also find it funny that AT&T smoked Verizon in sales. Everybody seems to think their the worst but when it comes to sales of iPhones, iPads, and curtain Samsung android phones and BB's they smoke Verizon. I myself love them. their service and coverage is great where I live. I can't say the same when I had Verizon. Poor network coverage and nickel and dime me.
