In a new interview, Apple's SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue revealed that the company is aiming to launch the new Apple TV remote app in the first half of 2016. Many have wondered when we would see the additional functionality arrive, so that the new Apple TV could be controlled from your phone as well as the included Siri Remote, and it appears as though there may still be a bit of a wait.

While speaking to BuzzFeed, Cue said:

"We're working on a new Apple TV remote app that will give you the full functionality of the Siri Remote on your iPhone. We're hoping to ship that in the first half of next year."

While it's still unknown exactly when the updated remote app will launch, it's great to see that Apple is working on bringing full functionality from the Siri Remote to it.
