The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple's plans for their wearable device, which the media has already called the 'iWatch' include putting in near-field communication, or NFC, hardware inside.
The story, which cites unnamed sources, also says the next iPhone will have NFC hardware as well, which was previously rumored. It also repeats other unconfirmed reports that the iWatch will come in two different sizes but that while it may be officially revealed at Apple's press event on Tuesday, it may not go on sale until sometime in 2015. The story says the iWatch could have a "curved organic light-emitting diode screen."
The story points out that NFC features on the iPhone 6 and iWatch could be critical in Apple's plans to add features that would enable the devices to help pay for retail items and services. A few days ago, more rumors claimed that Apple has partnered with Visa, MasterCard and American Express for such a service.
What do you think about the prospects of the iWatch adding in NFC features?
