Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition released for Mac and Windows

Beamdog on Friday released its long-anticipated Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition for Mac and Windows. iPad and Android versions are expected down the road, as well.

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition is a completely reworked version of the 2000 classic from BioWare. It's a medieval fantasy role playing game designed around actual Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules. The game follows the events of the original Baldur's Gate.

This "Enhanced Edition" release combines the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal, the conclusion to the trilogy. Also included are four new non-player character party members - Dorn Il-Khan, a half-orc Blackguard, Neera, the Wild Mage, the monk Rasaad yn Bashir, and a thief seeking powerful artifacts.

The game also includes The Black Pits 2: Gladiators of Thay, a new adventure aimed at high-level players, remastered artwork based on the original renders, widescreen support, easy multiplayer, and other interface and gameplay improvements.

Are you a Baldur's Gate fan? Do you love role playing games? Or are you waiting for the iPad version? Let me know in the comments.

Haven't played Baldur's Gate in forever. I'll have to check this out when it hits the iPad.

Really looking forward to this one! I spent countless hours playing this game in years long past, and now I've got the opportunity to share a "new" old fave with my son. Betting it looks better on the iMac than it did on the beast I used to play it on!

I haven't played any game from the Baldur series. But yeah an iPad version sounds sweet.
