Battlestar Galactica and more coming to Amazon Instant Video for iPad thanks to new NBCUniversal deal

Amazon Instant Video arrives on iPad, brings tons of movie and TV fun

If you're a fan of Parks and Recreation, Parenthood, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica and other fine television shows made by the folks at NBCUniversal, and you're a subscriber to Amazon Prime, you're in luck -- a deal has been struck to bring all of that, and more, streaming straight to your iPad. Here's what Amazon and NBCUniversal had to say about the announcement:

“We are excited to be working with NBCUniversal to add their award-winning lineup of TV shows such as Parks and Recreation and Friday Night Lights to Prime Instant Video,” said Brad Beale, Director of Digital Video Content Acquisition for Amazon. “We continue to invest heavily in our content selection for Prime members, and have now reached over 22,000 movies and TV episodes available instantly with unlimited streaming.”

“We are thrilled to have several of our iconic programs available to subscribers of Amazon Prime, a service focused on the best possible consumer experience,” said Frances Manfredi, President, Cable & New Media Distribution for NBCUniversal. “We look forward to further expanding NBCU’s content offering available to Prime subscribers in the near future.”

Amazon Instant Video arrived on the iPad at the beginning of August, and while it's international availability, like most of Amazon's offerings, remains a joke, for Prime subscribers in the U.S., it's a fantastic offering.

Anyone using Amazon Instant Video full time on their iPad yet? Has it replaced iTunes, Netflix, or Hulu for you?

Battlestar Galactica and more coming to Amazon Instant Video for iPad thanks to new NBCUniversal deal

The recent iPad app update made Amazon Instant Video a great app. We cut the cord at my house and only rely upon streaming video or ota antenna programming. Amazon Instant Video/WatchESPN app/Netflix/ota antenna programming nicely covers all of my family's TV wishes.

A comment on sentence construction:
"Amazon Instant Video arrived on the iPad at the beginning of August, and while it's international availability, like most of Amazon's offerings, remains a joke, for Prime subscribers in the U.S., it's a fantastic offering."

Thats really hard to parse. I had to read it twice to get what u are saying :P

Honestly, Amazon Prime might be the best deal out there. I've had it since it was first offered and while I have no idea how they make money with it, it's easily helped us save thousands. If you're an Amazon power user - like us - it's such a no-brainer.
