BBEdit adds iCloud Drive support, Find Differences improvements and more

Bare Bones Software has released BBEdit 11.5, bringing a number of improvements, refinements, and fixes to the text editor, including changes to Find Differences and some of the appearance controls. BBEdit 11.5 also adds support for iCloud Drive.

There are some new features that have been added to BBEdit's Find Differences feature. When comparing two documents, Synchro Scrolling is on by default, which scrolls one document when you scroll the other. You now also have new appearance options for Find Differences, including new Text Colors options, which determine how differences are highlighted in in editing views.

With iCloud Drive support, BBEdit users now have an alternate method to Dropbox for syncing application support and setup information between Macs. You'll need to create an 'Application Support' folder, and a BBEdit folder within that, inside iCloud Drive in order to take advantage of this support. BBEdit 11.5 can also use iCloud Drive to host a shared backup folder, which the app will use if you create a 'BBEdit Backups' folder in iCloud Drive and turn on BBEdit's Historical Backups option.
